Stream new Bowie

It’s streaming on iTunes.

Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Still can’t believe that is the album cover…

With several listens the album’s weaknesses are apparent. It’s ok, with a few highlights but (maybe the cover was a sign) don’t expect anything groundbreaking. ‘Where are we now’ would stand as one of the strongest tracks, which I’d hoped would not be the case (even though I like the song)

Listening to it now. Meh. Really unimpressed. Uninspired dad-rock without even the slightest arty pretense.

The cover is really bad.

I dunno, this whole thing feels pretty anti-climactic.

The cover is indeed bad. Didn’t work out, whatever he was thinking.

Have a delusional hope that this is not actually the proper album but throwaway stuff before a great album comes out later. But that might be in the hope-for-Jourgensen league of self delusion

I’m waiting for my Japanese edition to arrive in the mail, but I’m sure I’ll be the sycophantic counterpoint when I finally hear it. Well… I hope I can be that. I’m trying to temper my expectations. I’d like it to be as good as Reality.

Trevor Bolder rip…

So this kind of sunk like a rock on here…I still haven’t bought this…I probably should…been listening a lot of ‘Scary Monsters’ and ‘Earthling’ which I fucking love!

That’s really the album cover?
What a prick.

i actually really dig the cover. its the perfect kinda comment on exactly what so much of the album is talking about.

as for the music, its david bowie, so its automatically interesting as a default, and while it isnt nearly as adventurous or challenging as ‘heroes’, Low, Heathen, Outside, Tin Machine, or a lot of the super historical work, it is a killer collection of songs. im in love with a few of them, and i can see one of the others already growing on me.

this wasnt supposed to be an album to change the world, or even his own sounds, just one to look back at his pant and blend together something that is both referential and a little bit inquisitive.

not perfect, not classic bowie, but easily an 8/10. now that he is back though, i have a lot of hope for the follow up. historically the SECOND album in all of his series/sets ends up being the real mover and shaker. this one is the ‘station to station’ to what i can only hope is the Low waiting in the wings.
