There’s plenty of newer songs to be pissed off about.
Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone
Lady Antebellum - Need You Now
Tool - The Pot
Muse - Hysteria
Combichrist - What The Fuck Is Wrong You

Well, the posting I made over a year ago about ‘not having to be subjected to pop music etc.’ is no longer true.
I now have a kind of ‘stopgap’ job to occupy me as a wait to reboot my life in earnest, and of course this means dealing with piped-in store music all day long.
Actually a lot of what is getting played is decent and hummable, i.e. vintage New Order and stuff like that. But occasionally a “90s block” comes up and part of that block is ALWAYS one of the two hits by CAKE “Short Skirt / Long Jacket” and that other one about “he’s going the distance”.
I hate these songs with such an intoxicating, all-consuming hatred that it actually fucks with my productivity when they come on. That stupid self-congratulating rip off of Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane” riff in “Short Skirt…”, the achingly smug observations in both songs and the lame attempts at being simultaneously funny and artful…makes me want to listen to hours of Sadistik Exekution or some random goat metal band to cleanse myself.
I have a colleague who plays drivel like Five Finger Death Punch in our work cars. And some people consider Limp Bizkit low-brow and stupid, huh? Same colleague also introduced me to one of the worst and most totally unnecessary cover versions I’ve ever heard, being Simon & Garfunkel’s “Sound Of Silence” butchered by Disturbed. YUCK

That sounds genuinely crap indeed - not many people succeed in pulling off a convincing cover song of the “ok, we’re going to go to some dark places with this one” variety.
One that really got on my nerves was this slowed down, doom-y / dubstep-y cover of “I Wanna Be Sedated” with a girl singing. I have no idea who the artist is; I heard it when being forced to sit through 40 minutes of ‘coming attractions’ crap at an AMC movie theater and it’s on the trailer to some current sci-fi movie that I now forget. I normally am a polite movie-goer but when my friends and I heard that we all blurted out “oh, what the fuck!??” loudly and simultaneously
Yeah, that song was in the trailer for A Cure For Wellness.
That ‘Ain’t Nothin Gonna Break My Stride’ song…
…I hate it

I hate reggae and tropical fruity island bullshit music enough as it is, but when dipshit cracka ass mofos make it, I have a new level of hate for it.
I had to look up who was the “Ain’t Gonna Break My Stride” guy (but figured he was a white dude).
This is what he looks like, which should help you put that hate up a few notches. No Hell is extreme enough for this smug Gallagher-looking one-hit-wonder diaper load.
That’s the dickless turd who made that song???!!!

Yes, sorry I forgot to put his name . . . Matthew Wilder (thanks, Google).
Look at that god damn vest he is wearing!!
That “Walking On Sunshine” song makes me want to destroy cities. I hate it.
Yeah I mentioned that one in the thread also…I have an extreme hatred for that one as well…especially when I hear it early in the morning…
Oh, funny. It’s in the first post. That song will ruin my day.
Yeah its a piece of shit…and its amazing how many movies use it in their soundtracks…
Most rap music these days is pure cringe.
Beyonce, how people blindly call every album of hers the best of all time seriously blows my mind.
Also anything overly patriotic. All nu-metal/rap metal.

This reminds me of when I worked at a small pizza chain in the SF Bay Area called Blondie’s Pizza. The location in Pleasant Hill was cool because there was no uniform necessary and we could pretty much play whatever we wanted as long as the managers weren’t there. Anyways, the 2 assistant managers, Bronson and Jordan, almost always played some of the worst music I’ve ever heard. Bronson was usually playing this pop punk band called Authority Zero, but he and I had shared some similar tastes, and he was cool to work with for the most part. In fact, I hooked him up with a burned copy of Dark Side Of The Spoon. Jordan, on the other hand, was into nerdy prog metal crap like Nevermore and usually blared the album Come Clarity by In Flames. He was also convinced Ministry were a nazi band. So yeah, Authority Zero and that damn In Flames album have gotta be the 2 worst choices for background music at work. I can’t really single out any songs by Authority Zero, but that In Flames album had “Take This Life” on it, and the rest of the album didn’t sound much different.

And that reminds me, speaking of No Doubt, their album Rock Steady is a steaming pile of shit. Before the job at Blondie’s Pizza, I worked seasonal at Michael’s Arts & Crafts as a stocker and sales associate. The stocking portion of the job was cool because it was overnight and we didn’t have to worry about customers. One of the supervisors brought in Rock Steady and the album before it, “Return Of Saturn.” I actually didn’t mind “Saturn” as background music, and the single “Simple Kind Of Life” definitely treads on guilty pleasure territory, however, “Rock Steady” was terrible, and featured the singles “Hey Baby,” “Hella Good” and “Underneath It All.” All of which served as the precursor to Gwen Stefani’s atrocity of a solo career, in which the only highlight was the song “Holla Back Girl.” No Doubt also did a shitty cover of the song “It’s My Life” by Talk Talk some time in between the release of Rock Steady and Gwen going solo. This makes me glad the early 2000’s are over.

It’s in the American Psycho movie, you can watch that part and easily go on a murder rampage afterwards.

Haha very true…that song is so wretched I prefer the Huey Lewis and Phil Collins songs in the film…
