Is that same old madness ripped from the video? Sounds a lot cleaner than the old copy I had… I love that freakin’ song, it gets stuck in my head so bad!
Is that al talking at the start of stigmata? stoopid question… lol, I assume the answer is yes, just sounded different… younger I suppose… maybe a RHCP roadie… haha, not for a few years
OT is there any truth to those rumors? That Al got so fucked up on a couple of lollapalooza dates that a RHCP tech chucked on his glasses/cowboy hat and did a few whole shows w/o anyone noticing? haha… would love a boot of that
Yep, it’s ripped from the video. Should be the same as the old version, though I may have touched it up a little since then. And weren’t the older songs ripped at 128K? This one’s 192k, so that may be it as well.
That is Al at the beginning of Stigmata. He was pretty lively at some of the shows on that tour.
I’ve heard the story told by Al. No idea which dates though. All the bootlegs I’ve geard are definitely Al.

Haven’t heard this one before but a tech did fill in for Paul on some of the lolla shows.
Yeah, they’re refering to the “infamous” Lolla dates when Al was so fucked up he had a tech throw on the hat and glasses to go out on stage…he says no one noticed, but I’m not sure if this is true or not. Sounds like a “Rock and Roll” kinda story to me…
I love this clean-sounding version of SOM. This would have been a perfect single for a “darker” transitional album to slot in between With Sympathy and Twitch.
Agreed, I have no idea why I love that song so much. Maybe your right, because it is sorta that inbetween… hmm… when was it recorded, was it between ws and twitch? I would assume so… I’m sure it’s been answered I’m just being too retardo to remember at the moment.
at some boot from the show in 1982 al says: “this one is called same old madness, it’s our next single”. video was also shot in 1982 so i assume it was recorded at that time, it might have been written before, though.
I’ve been loving the SOM! Also thought that the live version of “Supermanic” recently posted was a masterpiece. Been chatting with Revok about how it may be better than the album version what with all that beautiful sax in it.
I still maintain that Same Old Madness evolved out of America. The drums are very similar, and some of the synth lines are practically identical.
You may be right, they do sound alike. Dunno when he wrote America, but it always sounded in the same vein as Overkill to me, wich dates from 80-81, so it would be logical.
