Unforgiven was probably the last great western made. I always felt that it essentially ended the era of the revisionist western, a genre of film that had huge impact not only on Hollywood but also on various other waves of cinema around the world.
the needle in the arm thing happens alot from what i hear. He lost the toe from stepping on an old point and getting an infection
I remember Preston Hubbard (the bassist for the Buck Satan show in Austin) talking about Al chasing a broken needle up his arm with a razor as it got in his veins… I always thought that was the origin of the whole “spiderbite” story.
you really have to not know how to shoot up to break the fucking needle off in your vein, or that has to be some decrepid ass, rusty old piece of shit needle. The pusher part is more prone to breaking than the needle itself. I mean unless you like, step on it of course.
He’s scouring the board in search of all the non-racist comments he made, so he can delete them and have them quoted by you, thereby proving that he’s not a racist. It’s a brilliant plan. He should probably also find some comments where he’s not gargling your nuts, so he can also try and show how he doesn’t use your ballsack like Listerine every morning.
I remember an interview with Paul Barker in a street press newspaper some years ago. He mentioned working on Dark Side Of The Spoon and the memories it brought up (mostly good).
He mentioned that Vex And Siolence was originally going to be 10 minutes long and that it was inspired by a documentary he saw about children who were kept in appalling conditions in a mental hospital or something.
Maybe one day Paul will do an autobiography and we’ll get some cool inside info instead of the nonsense that Al put out. “I was too high to remember the making of DSOTS.” boring!
It is boring but I certainly don’t doubt that he was telling the truth…you can totally believe Al was so blitzed that he can’t remember making an album…
Alice Cooper had his “blackout era” where he can’t remember a thing about making at least 3 albums hahahaha…that’s some decadent shit, man…
Yep! Apparently freesbasing coke makes you an incredibly prolific genius. Those albums are all amazing. But holy shit, he was terrifyingly decrepit if you see what he looked like in that time (check out his Tom Snyder interview while promoting “Special Forces”).
Yeah he looked hideous during that era …like one step away from death…I love those albums so much though… especially Dada…it’s so weird and so different from any that came before it…and its got that awesome Bob Ezrin production…I still play those albums regularly…
I was trying to track down dada at Amoeba. It was no where to be found. Its hard to find cds of it online too. I listened to dada on you tube based on a recommendation from gunnar (probably) and i liked it immediately. Good shit.
Yeah for some reason Dada ,Zipper Catches Skin and Special Forces seem to be out of print on cd…I’ve had the vinyl for many years…but those 3 cd’s are hard to find where as everything else of the Coop catalog is easy to find…I’m sure there are copies on discogs but not sure what they are going for…that box set he put out a while back has them on there which is how I have them but not sure of the availability of that now either…
That’s how I got 'em all too.
I told Grumps to get this because when I got mine (about 6 years ago) it was only like $60 and had the first 14 albums. I think he’d already tried and he said it cost an arm and a leg. I meant to search for it myself but haven’t done so yet. That box set was the greatest value on Amazon.
EDIT: DOH!!! $350 is definitely more than I paid for the set, haha!
Yeah I got it when is was that price also…did the same with the Blue Oyster Cult with their box set around the same time…it appears that one is still reasonably priced but wow $350 for the Alice one…didn’t know it was going for that much now…got mine for $ 60 also and I believe BOC was $50…
Dada is amazing, but I don’t care for the other records from that era. Flush The Fashion has “Clones” though, and that’s worth it all by itself. I think it’s the only early '80s song Alice still plays live sometimes.
