Great to hear another supergroup that doesn’t disappoint… 'tis somewhat cool listening and having an immediate idea of who would’ve done what in terms of input.
Yeah Bill Laswell is insanely prolific. There’s a great mini documentary on him on youtube. It’s in a different language but all the interviews etc are in english.
Bill Laswell played bass on My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts and also on Herbie Hancock’s classic “Rockit”. That alone makes him rule…another brilliant record of his is Bahia Black’s “Ritual Beating System”.
he’s worked with everybody from john zorn to buckethead to bootsy collins… I think he could be the most recorded underground artist. certainly his output is prolific
Before you said anything, I imagined it’s the sort of stuff you listen to where you’re driving through the city at night, listening to this music… and being up to no good.
And this sounds like the soundtrack to that kind of thing.
What from I’ve heard, the album sounds more Laswell than Broadrick.
Anyone willing to check out more Laswell could do worse than checking out some of the albums he made with Mick (Scorn) Harris. They made Lustmord sound positively cheerful.
But I can hear the Broadrick influence too… yeah, I will definitely agree on the Laswell ‘sound’ taking some precedence, generally in terms of production. But, as for the riffs themselves, I’d say it be pretty hard to distinguish who exactly influenced what.
I think I posted about this album here before or else I did it somewhere else anyways the tracks with JKB are really distinct and are the best of the bunch.
Neat!
It says it’s out April 6th, but none of the online retailers have it.
You can order it from the page its self.
Sounds pretty cool. I really like the preview for Chains. Takes me back to my Unreal Tournament 2004 days. I think I’ll order. Thanks for the heads up, had no idea about this.
I can imagine listening to this while driving throught the city at night!!
You hit the nail on the head. I like listening to Sacred System 1 and 2 late at night like midnight - 3AM, and it’s perfect. And I’ve often thought it just fits playing a stunt driving game or something.
This thread inspired me to bust out some Laswell, which got me in a chill mood and I listened to some more chilled/laid back/psychadelic songs. I looked at my recent tracks on last.fm and put a little playlist together, 11 songs clocking in at 1:21:24, barely exceeding a CD-R limit which could be made to fit by trimming some of a certain epic lengther.
I really like the way it flowed together and feels. If I bothered to put it all in a rar and throw it on megaupload would anyone care enough to download it?
