Joel Osteen can suck my hairy nutz…well dudes, you might not hear from me for a while…thanks for the well wishes…I am in for a white knuckle ride…Irma is now the strongest recorded storm ever to touch down in the Atlantic Basin…in fucking history!!!.I feel awful for those poor bastards in the Lower Atilles and Puerto Rico…we are prepping here for devastation…I’ve been through a couple of storms but never one of this magnitude…after I am done with all my prep it is time to start drinking …heavily…see ya giys
[reply]I saw so many blasts and memes shitting on Joel Osteen for not giving a major public donation or converting his mansion to a refugee center or something . . . okay, so be it. But my response is always the same . . . what have YOU done? What have YOU given? Everyone is so ready to tell other people what THEY should be doing with their time and money. That’s a silly and selfish way to behave.
I think the problem with Olsteen is this guy is s’posed to be out their repin’ for the Lord and he’s telling the flock “fuck off.”
Meanwhile [url http://ktla.com/2017/08/29/houstons-mattress-mack-opens-furniture-filled-stores-to-flood-victims/] This guy is doing what he can in the middle of it all NOT telling people to fuck off.
Most people don’t have the means to help and they don’t think of donating blood or food (which is an excellent suggestion) but we’re shown people like olsteen with way more than he needs or can spend being an asshole with it and it begs for comment.
Not sure if it’s true or not but I’v seen reports he broke out the donation baskets, trying to get the refugees to “donate” (see charge) the people for staying in his church.
“Jesus hates to ask, but you gonna have this weeks rent?”[/reply]
Gunnar makes a good point, but at the same time… as the leader of a mega church and a religion with billions of followers that teaches giving, you gotta come through in times of need… you know… like when a fucking HURRICANE devastates your own backyard. He just came off as a big phony.

Oh, hey, you didn’t hear the good news? Rush Limbaugh says these whole Irma and harvey storms are fake news; a “hoax.” So, sit back and relax. No storm just a liberal conspiracy from the far left to justify man made global warming. Here’s the proof

Mega churches just seem phony in general. I wouldn’t really expect them to help anyone out that doesn’t attend and give money. If they practiced what they preach, they would, but they’re just big businesses with Sunday concerts.
It’s refreshing to be able to agree with you on something. I see your big businesses with Sunday concerts and raise you the suggestion of taxing these phony churches.
those big churches suddenly have the power to become influential in government, which I am sure you don’t want.
That’s already a problem, if you haven’t noticed.

Hey! I wanted to write that [pirate] [laugh] Although, if Pon3 is saying these guys would start being able to have lobbyists, I think that would pose a bit more of a problem than they do now.
Why would they need more Lobbyists, when they have Congressman and Senators on the payroll?
What I mean is that once something becomes a source of income to the government, the government starts depending on that thing to exist.
What? Says who?
If some church is pulling in $10K (random number) for some town and then decides they have had enough and moves on, then that leaves a big hole.
Move on from what? The town? That would disrupt the church’s money not the government money, even if they were taxed.
But, it’s like giving someone internet and then taking it away. It doesn’t work very well. Now, the internet and cell phone companies have everyone by the balls because people don’t know how to exist any more without it.
Maybe children wouldn’t but adults would, and besides that we’d adapt.
There are a lot of churches and they could potentially bring in a lot of tax money.
For churches to quit being churches because they don’t want to pay taxes is ridiculous.
At the same time, the left is hell bent on destroying all churches.
I dont know any lefties that want to destroy all churches or really any churches. Lefties do get pissed when the church tries to fuck with our laws in order to try to make us have to conform to their dogmatic bullshit.
Yeah, wha? If anything, the most lefty people I’ve met have also tended to be the most spiritual in some way or other and most tolerant of varying religions. I am however at a point where when I meet an arrogant raving shithead who wants to abolish all religion or whatever, I can guess that they’re a libertarian and turn out to be correct at least eight times out of ten.
I’m a “Lefty” and would burn every church to the ground if I could get away with it.
Religion is a poison of the mind.

If your intent is to strengthen religions and create martyrs, that would work splendidly.

I understand the need for churches for some people. However, i also identify more with acid, not in that i would want to burn every church to the ground, but wed be a lot better off without them. But unfortunately that would indeed create martyrs and make them stronger. So as long as theyre keeping to themselves, (unless theyre doing something actually positive for the community) then live and let live . When theyre trying to fuck with the law in order to make me bow down then we have a problem.
I am watching some of the hurricane news footage this morning from Florida. The news reporters crack me up with the stupid stuff they say. I guess when they are forced to talk non-stop about something that is changing at a snails pace then that’s going to happen.
totally agree! i was watching this morning and the weather reporter “caught in the winds” are hysterical.
“um, yea, so we’re here in the storm as it reaches miami, and… uuhhhh… it’s windy here. and it’s a ghost town. back to you Tom.”
