So...who is going to Soundwave?

I can’t wait to see the over the hill money grubbing whores that are FNM.

I saw one of their recent European gigs on youtube and it was fucking horrific.

Really? I actually listened to their gig at download pretty recently, like yesterday. I think they sounded pretty fucking good if you ask me.

Oh and I will rather enjoy the redneck rock that is Clutch.

I don’t think FNM will be fabulous.

Saw clutch live in Bakersfield. they opened for the Circle Jerks and Samiam. still have the flyer somewhere.

Makes me want to drink whiskey and yee-haw. Completely gross generalisation but…

I don’t think it’s too far off. they give of the vibe that they are a little red around the neck. I don’t remember too much about the show because I was so star struck over seeing the Circle Jerks. (this was '93 and one of my first few concerts) But if I remember correctly Clutch had hay bails on the stage with them. I just thought they were making fun of Bakersfield, but I guess not.

I’ve seen Clutch probably 12 or 13 times. They are not redneck rock, they have that aspect but are so much more. Each album has a different sound, any Clutch show is a great show.

Hang on, grumpy you have a flyer from a show you went to in 1993? And it’s now 2010?

I did say gross generalisation.

HELL YEAH!
had that thing up on my wall all the way through college. Then it got packed up somewhere when I moved out of my parents house. I have a pretty good idea where it is at, even though I haven’t seen the thing in over 10 years.

I just, I dunno. I don’t have any inclination to keep things like that, prefer my memories a little more intangible.

Clutch’s redneck act is betrayed by their highly intellectual lyrical content. They’re awesome.

That said, they were really dull when I saw them live a couple of years ago. They like jamming, which is a big yawner to my mind.

I guess I can understand that. Souvenir shops aren’t for everyone (and no I didn’t buy the flyer, that statement was a metaphor.)

fnm can get stuffed. i gave thought to seeing them live, but it occured to me how crap it would actually be given the disappointment i felt when i saw RATM live.

the whole thing was nothing more than a rehearsal in front of tens of thousands of people. they weren’t into it, were sloppy and simply didn’t engage with the audience. waste of time and money.

'tis better to remember these acts in aspic, methinks.

patton can especially get fucked. ripping on wolfmother for being derivative (fair enough…), but he goes out and rehashes this shit? how can you justify it when they aren’t writing any new songs or doing much else other than a lady gaga cover or two. and besides, he resurrects this in favour of bungle?

i sincerely hope bar mckinnon kicks him in the balls when he comes to melbourne. but bar’s a nice guy, but i know for a fact he’s definitely annoyed bungle ended the way it did.

… given the disappointment i felt when i saw RATM live.

[shocked] really? Man, too bad for you. I saw a reunion show and they were bad ass!!! angry, fierce, motivated. maybe they were just burned out being down in the oz.

It would have been too hot for those pussies for sure. I am going to Soundwave, despite my usual wholesale hatred for this kind of thing (reformed old bands), especially without a new album to support. Part of me is dreading it but I will keep an open mind, as I never got to see fnm and Patton has never disappointed me yet in a live setting.
