So they're putting out a Rio Grande Blood remix album

Read Mrs Jay’s big rant the other day about this over at PA.

2 things that made my blood boil.

“Al continues to grow as an artist.”

Justin, yes. Al, er…um…

“The fans actually asked for this remix album.”

Huh? For serious? Don’t buy that for a second.

And if were shooting for 3rd…

“The Last Sucker” will be the LAST disc. Period."

Shuh right. Isn’t fat Bob from the Cure always saying the same damn thing every damn time and then look what happens…

you of all people know you shouldn’t believe what people write. it’s business - that’s it. the idea is to generate revenue. if telling people it’s your last _____ brings in higher sells - then tell people it’s the last one.

its business.

TLS is the last studio Ministry release, and the 2008 tour will be the last Ministry tour.

RGDya is not a “cash grab” but based upon requests I have personally received from people over the past few years. We don’t have any “contractual fulfillment” any more b/c we have our own label. The remixes we do and will continue doing are the result of WANTING to do them, and also b/c there is a demand.

The income generated by remix releases and vinyl pressings is minimal.

You won’t see another Ministry studio release after TLS (unless we choose to do a remix), and Al will not be touring with Ministry ever again after 2008.

You can quote me on this, but please, if you do quote me, please ensure you use my exact words, not an “interpretation” of what I’ve written.

Jizzwad’s last quote was his/her “interpretation” of what I posted at the Piss Army. If you’d care to review what I ACTUALLY posted, please do.

Yeah, I didn’t understand how you’d need contract filler when you had your on label either. Funny that the freedom to release extras once label red tape is removed is so often confused with greed.

So, no more new releases, any chance of some unreleased stuff? Live albums?

You won’t see another Ministry studio release after TLS (unless we choose to do a remix),

Using the exact words, I’m going to interpret this as a whole bunch of “from the vault releases”! Yaay!
Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, but I’m running with it anyway.

MrsJay said “You won’t see another Ministry studio release after TLS Ministry”…maybe he will continue with other side projects besides producing bands on the new label. [tongue]

glad to see you posting on this board MrsJay. [:)]

Its nice to see some official reply to the usual bitching that goes on in this forum. Thanks for posting Mrs. J.

Dont get me wrong here Mrsjay. I seriously mean no disrespect BUT you say the fans asked for this?? If this is so then how come we are all shocked at this news of a remix? We know nothing about this remix. Is it really going to be DUB style? You figure if “we” asked for this we would already know a little about it.
There is probably no other fan base for ministry as Rabid as Prongs and PA and yet I’ve never seen anybody ever post a thing about, “DAMN IT, AL REMIX THAT SHIT!!!”
I don’t care how you dress it up whether, “you aksed for it” or “Cash Grab,” as it’s been stated. Who cares as long as Al is putting music out? who needs a fuckin reason?? Don’t care if it’s a “cash grab” or just some shit he felt like putting out there" I like what Al creates so I will buy it. His vocals, lyrics, samples, rhythms, Bass lines…Everything
But I have to say if he truly caters to the fan base, then Al would remix the “With Sympathy” album there is enough of a demand (I’m not one of them, mind you) that adore that album and would want it remastered remixed re-whatever but Al ignores their cries.
I guess the bottom line is this, for the true fans you don’t have to explain yourself. For the bandwagoneers, why would you explain yourself?

First: Nice Avatar!

Second: When I said: “based upon requests I have personally received from people over the past few years” I was referring to emails, pm and discussions, not necessarily threads, although those exist as well.
I try to respond to all PMs sent to me at the PA, read the PA and also Prongs on a regular basis.

Third: Honestly, I am more active at PA than Prongs. But if you’d like me to post updates here on a regular basis, I will, just say the word.

Fourth: 13th Planet will release “sister” remixes of all our releases. It’s fun for us, we like it, and hopefully we will get better at it. On this note, I’d love to find a database of US club djs to send them promos. Anyone here have any suggestions or insight into this?

Fifth: Is Rio Grande Dub(Ya) a “dub” remix? I’ll be posting the title remix track either on Ministry website or PA in the next few weeks and then you can tell me.

How does that sound?

I’m ecstatic. First Al Personally hands me his pick at Anaheim House of Blues this last tour and then his woman responds directly to me on Prongs! That kicks ass!!

Thanks for noticing my cool avitar. Does Al Know Axl wears that Ministry beanie in The video. WELL HE DOES NOW!!

I can’t speak for the rest of these degenerates But I would definatley love updates. I can’t handle Piss Army from what I’ve checked out they are TOO fan Boyish. (this coming from a guy who has the Ministry set list that Al spit all over from Vegas framed and hanging on the wall)
Anyway thanks for dropping by, hope to see you as a regular…even though I’m sure you are busy.

BTW On this last tour MAKE Al play the FALL. He told my girly and I, 3 times, he would play the fall “Tomorrow” (looked like that is what he would mouth to us while he was on stage) and we kept showing up “tomorrow” with our “PLease PLay the Fall” piece of Paper “sign” and by the Anaheim show he looked frustrated cause I don’t think he was expecting us to keep showing up “tomorrow”
Alright enough fan boy prattle

Sycophant much?..

Yeah… I have so much to gain! Don’t get confused! I’m happy to hear from someone in the know. I don’t HATE everything like you. I could see how you could get the two mixed up.
I’ve said it before I’ll say it again. I’m sure I’ll keep saying it…Piss off Dick head

The ‘spokesman’ speaks out?!?!?

“I seriously mean no respect Mrs Jay…”

Hahaha!! Could you possibly be any more sappy, Digsy ol’ boy? What’s next, grympysmrf and Mrs Jay on Oprah, blubbering and confessing their undying love for ‘Uncle’ Al? God, what a brown noser. Sickening! Yee-uch!! Never thought I’d see anything like this here. Did you cry when Audioslave broke up, perchance? Betcha did, Knuckle-nicks.

The mind boggles…and you’ve then got the nerve to turn around and call other forum members dickheads. Pfffft!

Have you nothing better to do? I’m surprised you can type you’ve had your hand in you avitars pants now for over a year. pretentious little hate monger!
Other member dickheads? No just you and your split personality. I wouldn’t count you as members even though I know you want to be soooo badly. Keep trying maybe you can fish that little weenie out for yourself. I’m sure you’ll post the Avitar when you do.

Ooookay guys… calm down. It’s just a message board discussion.

  1. Mrs. Jay’s gonna blow a gasket if she hangs around this place too long.
  2. I like remix albums, and it doesn’t matter to me if they’re cash grabs or not. I even throw Remix Dys-Temper every now and then…
  3. Last Ministry studio album? I’ll believe it when I see it. That may be the plan at the moment, but minds have a way of changing. Still, if it means Buck Satan’ll finally see the light of day, I’m all for it.

I know I’m looking forward to the remix album. I liked the Revco remix album and since 13th Planet puts everything up on eMusic it’s not like there’s even much of a financial commitment.

I was just listening to the RevCo remix album and it’s pretty good, so I’m looking forward to the RGB one as well. I miss all of the b-sides from the singles, so having an album worth of them with each release is the next best thing.

I thought the RevCo remix was alright too. It’s not classic but it is decent. Considering the starting material, it’s down right brilliant.

Worbeck even managed to excise for the most part Manson wannabe Spydy. How kind of him.[/reply]

I do like the REmixxx better than the original but I also DON’T hate the original either. I think the remix sounds like it’s more in the actual vein of RevCo.

Rio Grande DUB, eh?

Well, if by some crazy chance the album really was remixed ACTUAL DUB STYLE (maybe pulling in some of the old On-U Sound crew for the job) instead of a bunch of typical industrial/metal remixes, that would be so far off the beaten Ministry path that I would personally stand up and give Uncle Al a huge round of applause for breaking out of his own cookie cutter mold. Oh, and I would actually buy the album, maybe even buy it twice.

Even better would be a BRAND NEW album deviating from the ‘usual’ Ministry sound of the last 20 or so odd years. I don’t even care if it sounds like “With Sympathy”, in fact I’d prefer it, as long as it’s not another attempt to sound harder than the last record. But that’s a pipe dream, isn’t it?

Waiting for another round of tired industrial/metal remixes,

–SKot

P.S. - Mrs. Jay, feel free to post here any old time.
