i wish, i’ve been searching for a studio version since i first downloaded the live mp3 from this site with no luck. in FACT, i’d like to get my hands on any studio songs from that era. i have all the shit from waxx traxx, or wtf it is, with sympathy, and same old madness. can anyone supply me with more?

there are maybe more, can’t remember any other '82-'84 titles but no studio versions of these for now. there were enough material for another 40-min album like with sympathy. and i wish there would be one like that. but alas. also, al hates that album and of course, won’t release anything from those times besides the stuff that was on “early trax”. or maybe he will, who knows. there were rumors that he bought back rights for “with sympathy” and destroyed the master.

well shit. though painfully aware of the old bastard’s ill regard of his early work, i was hoping some studio versions had leaked. ah well. are there any other full length shows floating around from that era (other than 07-10-82)? i don’t really have any ministry shows to trade, but if someone is into nirvana or the smiths i have plenty.

I believe our benevolent Grandpa Al spread those rumors himself… and may have actually done so. According to his 2005 Memorial Day chat on ministrymusic.com, he stated this (in all caps, no less) in response to a fan’s inquiry about a rerelease.

yea, there also was a story about one fan who brought his copy of with sympathy so al could sign it and al just swiped his dick across the cover and returned it. way to go, al… oh yeah i remember reading somewhere that he also apparently got again super-sick of his own song later - it was “halloween”, he raided the clubs and was breaking the vinyl singles with it.
what a silly guy that al is! %-/
i wish he’d stop acting like he was the victim. he moved ministry to arista at that time, noone forced him to do it, right? he wrote all these songs, he even performed them. so what if it sounds “gay” now, it was sort of contemporary fad back then.
and on the promo 1983 interview with richard skinner he’s very positive about “with sympathy” by the way!! as for some shows i think i have some early stuff that sounds descent in mp3, if you want them, just send me a pm to remind me to share it on soulseek and then i’ll hook you up.
Wierd that he got sick of Halloween, suppose it was pretty big at the time. Just recently watched my 84 show again, theres a guy near the taper yelling ‘halloween’ inbetween songs.
the 84 tour was supposed to be a ‘last of ws’ tour right? Coz theres some darker sounding stuff, then the new-wavey type stuff which he looks pretty keen on, when he plays revenge though, for example, he’s just like ‘revenge’ and starts playing, doesnt seem that keen. But then thats about the amount of on-stage banter he provides now days…
(Ie. sphinctour, “this ones called psalm 69” etc…)
sphinctour was edited from numerous shows so it’s normal to have little stage banter. although i heard five boots from that tour and he wasn’t keen about talking to audiences too… something like “fuck britain, germany will win, this one is called …” (probably about some sport event).
what show of 1984 do you have? care to transfer it to digital form and share?

Its the only one thats surfaced on video, ummm… at the Exit, dunno the date, and I’m being too lazy to check. I’ve actually been playing with conversion. The only (selfish) problem I have with chucking it on the www just yet, is that my own boot collection is not that great at the moment… and that show doesn’t seem to be that common… then again most of the shows that I want, the traders who have them probably wouldnt want that particular show anyway, lol… but like I said, I’m playing with digital… so I’ll let every1 know… I already have a short sample done… can anyone direct me to a free web hosty thingy-ma-jig… I got no idea… up to 15-20mb probably… canmake the clip longer if I have more space obviousley…
I’d love to see a couple screenshots of the sample clip to see if it’s better than my copy. I’ve got it on my list to convert, but when I try taking it to digital the video freezes quite a bit because ofthe poor tape quality.

Anyone know how to reduce “vcr noise” from mono recordings btw?
Looks like yours is similar to mine. I use Audition to edit the audio. As long as you’re authoring using Encore, it’s not a big deal. My copy’s not just mono. It has no left channel and very quiet sound with lots of noise. Audition made it listenable.

Sure did, however the sound came out really crappy. Well just low, not crappay. Anyway, dummkopf has a copy of my transfer, and also a better quality copy I believe.
