I’m going…with VIP. [tongue]
I’m going…with VIP. [tongue]
did you pay for the VIP? i’m thinking of going to the show but still on the fence
Yep…75 beans.
Yep…75 beans.
you know the band guys like sin uaually are easily found lingering around after the show… or is the strickly cause you get a chance to see al up close?
I say that cause after the last ministry show at irving plaza (excuse me, the spectacular filmore east coast lounge and club at the irving plaza ballroom in the fabulous city of new york city, usa) everybody was basically hanging around before and after the show… shit sin was right outside when the crowd was still leaving. I mean if i had 75 to kill and i was going to be going to the show anyway and didn’t have aticket i’d consider it, but from what i hear these meet and greets with al and crew kinda are a rip off…

“Kinda”?!
completely!
Late,

I know it’s pretty easy to meet the guys…met them at the last revco show. The main reason for VIP is to hopefully meet Al again. 75 bucks isn’that high a for a tix nowadays.
Ask him about the upcoming solo album he’s making for me if you get a chance to talk to him.
because I doubt I’ll be able to.
He’s not making the album for you, asshole! He’s making it for all of us!
if he’s even making one… of course maybe al’s got to get a band together to play with for this “solo” album… and then you know, everbody has got to write their parts for the album… but in a cooperative effort way, ya know, but al’s in supervision and yada yada yada…
i’d ask him why the fuck his label can’t seem to do anything right as far a nondefective product…
I kid I Kid
(seriously try to grab his weave and run)
Here’s something i just found out
http://www.vampirefreaks.com/event/cybertron
anyway so it’s about KMFDM. Friday they play NYC. After the show is done they’re holding a party at don hills. from 11 till 4 am. The band is gonna be there mingling with their fans (which i can attest to them actually doing then some of these band post party gatherings at clubs/bars). So for $5 after the show, or even if you can’t get to the show, you can chill with the band for a reasonable amount of time. Now they are doing their 25th anniversary tour. They could easily have done the sell to the fans meet and greet like revco and alot of bands do. But they’re instead more or less holding a party at don hills. Say what you will about their ultra-heavy-beat sound and the bands recent output, but doing something like that I think is why a band like kmfdm, while never having the huge hit like al did with “NWO”, is still able to be in this music business for the long run, have stuff like their store and all it’s various premiums that always sell out, and run their own successful label, sell out shows, etc. As oppose d to 13th planet, al and his various projects.
In an industry that is supposedly on it’s dying legs before some form of the coming unkown changes the game, it’s things like this that make an artist survive. Not taking the quick cash in for the big bucks (like $75 meet and greets), but being accessable and also showing thanks to those that buy your product. It’s the comic book guy (from the simpsons) vs. the store owner who greats his customers, knows thier likes and dislakes and names and generally gives a shit. who’s gonna stay in business longer?
(I feel like i should post this as liefetz or something)
I’m seeing KMFDM in the city friday too, didn’t know they were doing that
I don’t think I’ll be able to go though, If I did I’d only be around for a little while.
In Melbourne some bands do that sort of thing occasionally too, well a few years ago at least. I know of Korn and Marilyn Manson both having after-parties 2-3 years ago, plus some other groups of the same sort of “Nu-Metal” genre.
I am not sure if Manson actually showed up to his though lol!
yeah but i’m sure at the manson or korn ones that bands had their own private area and it was more of a “come drink at the same bar as so and so, while that band looks at you from the other side of the velvet rope and maybe comes out once to say hi on thier way out the door”. I’m just saying a new band like revco shouldn’t be doing this thing, even if they are kind of a semi-representation of what may have been another band but not quiet at a previous point in space-time.
basically the lure is paying to meet al.
Yeah, are they doing these at shows without Al?
'Cause the other guys you could probably talk into going to a strip club with you after the show for free.

yup but for either 50 or 40 (i forget which)
i like the strip club idea, although (calm down) never actually had the time to get there before the girls have other appointments.
Maybe Al will pull a Luc Van Acker and just stand around with a Paul Barker mask on.
an interview from around the LFG era Cocks had Al saying he wanted to hire musicians to play all the songs while the Revolting Cocks laze about on stage in old Greek white robes being fed grapes and getting pampered by concubines. new Revco reminds me slightly of this but without the grapes and former band members.
