Here’s to the next lockout in a few years! Seriously, it seems like every sport has a lockout every ten years, or so. It’s ridiculous, and very greedy.
YaY hockey. I see Scott Niedermayer is the asst. coach of the ducks, so that’s awesome! I didn’t catch any games last night, but I will.
I thought the last NHL lock out was '94 or '95… oh well I understand this new contract will take them 10 years before there is another contract negotiation.

I think the last lockout was in 05-06. MIght be wrong, but it’s somewhere around there.
You’re right , 05-06 the entire season was gone with no Stanley Cup champs. I must’ve erased that from my head.

I was let down by Jaime Benn holding out!! He’s yet to sign a new contract with the Stars. I hear he’s been shooting down good offers. Talk about greedy athletes.
And it’s mind blowing how the commissioner Gary Bettman still has a job after a 3rd lockout under his reign.

Maybe the league will get together and low ball his ass and he’ll have to play for far far less or find himself not playing at all.

I don’t know how much control the commissioner actually has over the union contract. I thought he was more or less there to levy fines and make adjustments to the rules as well as dictate salary caps and such. But That’s just speculation I have no idea what a commissioner does in any sport.

The Coyotes are off to a slow start, 1-2, but they’ve allowed 11 goals already. They raised their Pacific Division banner at the home opener, which sadly reminded me of the bitchslapping the Kings gave them in the conference finals last year. We don’t get too many championships in AZ (save the D-Backs in '01), so I’ll gladly take the asterisk if the Dogs win it all in a shortened season.
The NHL needs to knock it off with the lockout bullshit.

Dude the kings won the cup! no matter how bad they lost you can’t be upset over your team losing to the Stanley Cup champs!!
but 11 goals already?? yikes, that sux!
I haven’t been keeping up with the devils or the ducks. it’s too hard with the kid around!
They just lost a nail biter to the blackhawks in OT. Jaime Benn just signed ( finally). Lehtonen is playing possessed. Things are looking good here. Especially considereing the Stars have missed the playoffs the last 4 years by the skin of their teeth. I think they might be able to make some noise in this shortened season.

The teams that generally peak too soon are in a good season to be champs! This should still be pretty solid playoff hockey.

My Panthers made the playoffs last year for the first time in 11 years…I’m hoping they can somehow carry that momentum into this season…going to go to a game next week…
