So.... about this whole Korn dubstep thing....

Now, I am of the very particular age where I was initially half intrigued and not entirely sure this wasn’t not a bad idea maybe?

(I was, after all, 18 when the “Spawn” Soundtrack came out)

But I think I’m leaning pretty hard towards NO.

The thing is, part of me wants to like dubstep, but everywhere I look for good dubstep, all I find is shit I don’t like (I admit I’m not looking very hard). And… as dubstep goes, I kinda could get with some of what they are doing here. But it’s hard to hear what anybody besides the dubstep producers and Jon are doing. Sure there’s a little guitar, but it doesn’t really sound like there’s a band here. And Jon ain’t doing anything special.

I think this may be his Gwen Stefani moment though. But ugly. Somebody make me a picture.

Thoughts?

I think I like the “Get Up” part though.

I think if I like something though, I shouldn’t have to say “I think” I like it this much.

If that makes sense.

I thought this was a joke and I lol’d a bit. But then I realised it was not.

i used to be a korn fan when i was a young teenager…i’ve barely kept up with them since the last few cds, always the same shit.

now i hate dubstep, but this sounds better than any crap korn has put out in the past couple years. has anyone heard the sleepy hollow song by deadsy featuring jonathan? i always hoped korn would adopt a more gothic/industrial sound. i think they’d be good at it. meh.

I don’t mind it. Some songs are stinkers, but some are pretty good. Korn’s been downhill for the most part of the 2000’s. But it’s kinda cool to see them actually try something different than that tired old sinking ship of a sound. With korn, it’s like listening to a ministry album. There’s either awful songs or there’s good songs (fewer than the shit ones).

I think it’s retarded.

they’re just cashing in on the whole dubstep trend right now to pay for their yacts.

… nothing’s better than fieldy’s dreams! (for a laugh) xD

Sans Jonathan’s whiny ass…“oooohh look at me im soo tortured”

Think he’s progressed from that, finally. Now he’s a rich guy who’s being taken advantage of by a bunch of ungratefuls. That, or something “artsy” (twisted transistor, etc). Wonder what would’ve been if he didn’t get the vocal lessons that made him sound 100x more whiny than before.

Beats regular Korn.
They should bring back the bagpipes.

What the fuck is dubstep?

(I was, after all, 18 when the “Spawn” Soundtrack came out)

I adore the filter/crystal method song “trip like I do” from that album

but everywhere I look for good dubstep, all I find is shit I don’t like (I admit I’m not looking very hard).

you need to dig out any akbar thread or send the dude a PM. He’ll set you straight. this stuff he likes is devastating!!! just ask him.

99% of Dubstep is complete shit. The new Korn album is made with Skrillix…possibly THE most horrible “Dubstep” producer on the planet. The Kirn album is complete & utter shit. To say some of it is alright really does baffle me?

The best “Dubstep” producers don’t actually make Dubstep.Basically if you’ve been making electronic music in the UK since 2003 at 140 BPMs chances are you’ve been lumped into the Dubstepscene. Keven Martin aka Bug aka God aka Techno Animal and now known as King Midas Sound is making more money than he ever has from the Dubstep scene than he ever did from the Industrial scene.

The best producers that are lumped into the horrible Dubstep scene are as follows…

Scuba (his album Triangulation rules)

Shackleton (his Skull Disco stuff is legendary)

Burial (all his stuff is pretty special)

RSD (old skool legend who wad one half of Smith & Mighty…S&M produced the first Massive Attack 12" and made 3 albums that were much better than Massive Attack’s stuff)

Wow . . . . I really regret looking up Skrillex on YouTube. The little that I listened to was by far the worst crap I’ve ever heard in my life. Case in point . . . this giant chunk of whiny emo faggitry . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA98SU7Qe4A

This was pretty funny, though. What a douche.

OH FUCK, KILL IT! KILL IT NOW!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZuh50a76co&feature=related

The dude hanging around in the background made that.

You know your music is crap when you announce from the stage “Let me rewind that”.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Well, that settles that . . .

fuck sake this aint dubstep, its ambient style 2-step garage, its so simple… its like calling mozart’s work jazz…

and before some smart arse 17-yr old stoner says ‘oh who cares bout genres just chill and enjoy the tunes man’…

you can appreciate music in the same way you can appreciate books AND have an idea whether they’re thrillers or non-fiction… stop acting like intelligence is uncool

i rest my case amigos x

I found this quote on a BURIAL tune. Then on some others there were other self-righteous d-bags also making sure everyone knew that this was ambient-style-2-step-garage.

Okey dokey.

To be fair: Skrillex only produced three tracks (four, if you count the bonus track). And the album ISN’T being promoted as a dubstep album. It’s supposed to be a mix of House, DnB, etc. People started calling it a dubstep album, not the band. And if it’s not dubstep, it’s not dubstep. But if a few people say it is, and a couple People say it isn’t, then what

Are they cashing in on the trends? Absolutely. Bowie did it. Al thinks he’s doing it. Nothing out of the ordinary. It’s pretty much you either like it, or you don’t. Simple as that.

Rod Stewart did it.
