According to Mrs. Jay post today, both have quit smoking…that’s good news. Just wondering how it’s possible to continue to drink like a fish and not smoke.
Ditto.
Its actually better to CONTINUE drinking when quitting since otherwise, if you take a break from drinking, that first beer after the break might also mean your first relapse cig.
I quit smoking myself 3 months ago. Longest break ever so far in my life. Digestive system is really taking a beating tho
Someone I work with quit smoking a few weeks ago now. Talk about struggling. Better off in the long run though. It’s the first month or so that’s the worst. It’ll get better.
For over 30 years I was a social smoker, but I haven’t had a cigarette in a few months now. Same goes for cannabis. I’ve also limited my alcohol intake to 2 or less drinks in the last 6 months. Have also about halved my calorie intake since September and work out 3 or 4 times a week. The result? I’ve dropped almost 25 pounds and have honestly never felt better in my life.
Mrs. Wempathy was a serious nicotine addict. She’s quit at least 10 times since we were married 25 years ago. But she hasn’t had a smoke this year and we’re both confident that this time she’s really gonna do it. She joined a wellness program and with the help of the patch it looks like this time it’s for good. She quit drinking a couple of years ago too and works out regularly.
Sincerely wish Al & Mrs. J the best of luck. It’s never too late to get healthy and when you get to be our age, time is of the essence.

Congrats man! I had a roommate that quite smoking and he made it about a year and a half before he broke down and started again. While he was staying with me he didn’t smoke, but oh man that poor guy whenever someone on tv would be smoking you could just see the longing in his eyes and he would say “oh man that just kills me I want that soo bad!” my hats off to him though for a year and a half! He broke down because the girl he moved in with was a smoker. I felt bad for him because all of that pain and agony was for nothing since he started again.
If you only quit once and stay done you never have to go through that agony again.
So keep it up and good luck!
You too wempathy good vibes to your Mrs.I hope she’s successful.
Late,

Good call.
I haven’t had one in… a week?
I haven’t had a cigarette in almost 3 years, and I still drink like a fish so yes it is possible.
Fucking hard, horrible thing to do though.
both of them quit smoking?
guess the budget at planet 13 has gotten REALLY tight…
I still drink all the beer I want and I quit smoking. I quit almost a year ago. I started jogging and do pushups every day and dropped about 50 pounds. If I quit beer it would probably be 80-90 pounds.
I really hate smoking now.
I haven’t had a ciggarette since Dec 2006… seems like ages ago.
Don’t want to smoke ciggarettes at all… a big fattie on the otherhand (no tobacco) makes me drool a bit!
I’m stuck - Smoke only at night, after i “smoke” - and then beer. I need to stop it all; that’s the only way i can.
Sadly, 15 years ago i gave up booze for a year (never was a smoker back then) and i STOPPED at the snap if a finger. I guess life has broken me. Glad to hear the success stories though! I’m looking to start working with a physical trainer this spring which will help me kick it all for good.

Ba-ZING.
I’m still 5’11" and 172lbs as of this morning, rock solid with a modest six pack of abs. At 43 (almost), I’m in great shape.
There ya go girls, meet your dream man on prongs.

Ba-zing… Good one.
Vision has really gone south in the last 6 months or so though - can’t see up close anymore and night vision is for shit. I went to the eye doctor, she just laughed at me. She is about my age and has the same problem. Her advice - reading glasses and don’t drive at night. Doh![/reply]
Well regardless of the diminished eyesight you’ll still have to be prongs “catch of the week”.
Regarding the eyesight, it sounds like my dog (who’s probably in his last year). He can’t see anything in the dark so just barks all the time. I’d be standing right in front of him and he’d just be staring blankly at my legs and barking. It’s hilarious.

smoking cigarettes is the last vestige of the middle finger. apparently Al is winding down the habit. too bad. Al is off the smokes. where is his kid in this picture of pretending sobriety?
Ed must be in hospital or something if he can’t go on the net himself. If so, all the best on recovery. Or maybe he’s gone all Howard Hughes. He’ll make his return in the Spruce Goose.
Either way stay away from the Mormons.
I wish REVCO would quit sucking.

Al giving cigarettes American trying to find meatloaf inside of his hip pocket may bring out the worst attitude in ailing ancestors. His habit is as black as a nun’s. Think of the children when answering the telephone and be sure to give Al my very best!
Nothing wrong with Mormans.
Tell that to HH
