Boris - Feedbacker
Corrupted - Paso Inferior
Slomo - The Creep
Earth - Earth 2 (the greatest slow album ever)
Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine - Rampton
Hateful Abandon - Famine
Melvins - Lysol
Sleep - Dopesmoker
Neurosis - Given To The Rising
Godflesh - Pure
Charmicarmicat by the Melvins is the greatest slow/heavy track ever released. End of thread.
Side 2 of Black Flag’s ‘My War’ album is very much an influence on alot of these slow/heavy bands. It’s definitely worth a listen - and surprisingly different if you think you have Black Flag pigeonholed. Same goes for Slayer’s ‘South Of Heaven’.
** Tides - resurface (imagine isis without the annoying screaming and better riffs)
** Anything Jesu/Godflesh
** Type O - World Coming Down and before
** Anything Pelican
** Godspeed! You Black Emperor (screw you… heavy is a state of mind, not a sound)
** Leonard Cohen - Famous Blue raincout (and several other songs - see above note)
** My Dying Bride (except for the 1st and 2nd album…)
** Swans
I could make this go a long time. I love slower and heavy music. The older I get the more it hits me.
And My Dying Bride. Most of their back catalogue gets a regular spin on my stereo these days (although I’m not sure they’re heavy/slow enough for this topic). ‘Songs Of Darkness…’ was killer - don’t understand the disrespect for that album.
