My post did reek somewhat of sarcasm but no disrespect was intentional - their fans have been stereotyped over the years which I was taking a lighthearted potshot at.
Friend of mine’s a giant fan of theirs. He thinks the band’s over and won’t carry on without him. I’ve been listening since 99-00. Maybe today will be a slipknot day.
I would assume this is the end of slipknot too, as they have stressed (well at least whenever I noticed them) themselves as being a family unit and maintaining a close relationship with their fans. No one has left the band since they formed, if I’m not mistaken. It would be ill fitting (and, arguably, bad taste) if they just replaced this dude.
well I’ll be dipped in shit. I don’t listen to them a whole lot these days but I went thru a huge Slipknot phase in high school. Paul was 1 of my favs too, dude was always the guy who got shafted in the mix lol (granted i guess sumthins gotta give when your mixing slipknot wit 9 members but come on, 4 of em are just axillary contributers it’s not THAT much different than any 5 peice wit 2 guitarists) It was like a game for me to revisit their albums after I had soaked them up in general, just to hear Pauls bass licks (especially Iowa I always thought had rather inferior production)
And I’m not at all kidding when I woke up this morning realized I need to do laundry n just happened to reach into teh drawer of my old band shirts from high school that I keep around just for such occasions, n of course I pulled out Slipknot (haven’t worn it in probly a year). AND i had a random Slipknot craving n they were pretty much dominating my winamp playlist while I woke up for my daily 3 mile walk. All of this b4 i found out about this about an hour ago. Freeky deeky
Part of me wants Slipknot to call it quits and part of me doesn’t want them to call it quits. Its just strange that no one from Slipknot has given a statement about there friend passing…or anything yet. Their site is just a picture of Paul and thats it no birth, death date…???

I had that freeky shit happen to me yesterday as well. It was about 9 am i was fixing up my Itunes cause it erased all of my songs so i was loading from some old disc back ups…long story short i came across 2 slipknot videos and watched them. I had not watched or listened to slipknot since early 2009…then i found out at about 11 pm that Paul had passed away earlier that day…this stuff happens to me all the time…CRAZY SHIT!!!
38 years old, ridiculously successful metal band, now dead… I’m gonna take a stab here and guess the autopsy results… I’ll take overdose for 200 Alex!
Late,

Waste of a life. Regardless of how I feel about his band.
Although, personally, if I had that kind of adoration and was afforded that kind of luxury, it would be hookers and blow and farm animals non stop around the clock.
Three generations of Metal fans saw a big loss recently.
I saw Slipknot in 1996 and had no idea what to think of them. Very different to say the least. Then when I heard them in 99, I was blown away. They took the tribal element of Sepultura, mixed with with the vocal rage of Korn and ran with it.
They were one of a kind, and stayed true to it. I hope they continue.
