Awesome show in Toronto last night. Sound was very clear, enough room on stage for Ogre to move around and the double encore was an unexpected bonus.

Double encore? Nice!!

They have been doing the double encore at every show,no?
They did here in Miami…
From what I gathered on the Litany site, the encore has usually been an either/or deal - either the Remission 4 pack or Ashas & Assimilate. It looks like they mixed it up for Miami & Toronto and it looked unlikely they were coming out again last night - long ass pause after first encore and Ogre mentioned something along the lines of “you guys are killing me…” and a buncha crap about being home, etc.
They did the double encore in Montreal too!
Going to the Chicago show tomorrow. Anyone got any information on how long the show was, what time the show got out, whether or not the opening bands were worth catching, etc?
Trying to plan my trip and decide whether or not to take public transit or drive, any information would be appreciated!
Thanks,
WD
Here in Miami they came on at about 10pm and finished about 11:45pm…I didn’t catch much of the opening act…not my thing it seems from the little I did catch…
sounds at the vic in chicago was pretty sub par. most of what you could hear was low end and ohgr vox, you could barley hear any of the synths of samples. great setlist though, and since they played the choke i was happy.
merch booth sucked, 35$ for a single color tee, no cd/vinyl. saw same shirt but no tour dates on back at a store for 21$ the next day.
Attended the Lawrence, KS show last night. This is the first time I have seen SP but a friend I was with has seen them twice prior and said last night was the best show of the 3. Army of Universe was a nice opener despite the low mix on the vocals. I spoke to AoU after their show and they said Lawrence was by far one of the best gigs thus far.
SP seemed very tight and focused. The sounds was much better than A of U. Ogre commented on how good the crowd was for a Sunday night. And like most, hearing The Choke was a highlight for me.

bummer man, hate to hear that. they had all of the above in atlanta. also our sound was great. ken hiwatt marshall was in atlanta. i was able to speak with him briefly - it was cool.
ken hiwatt marshall was in atlanta.
As a member of the band?

yeah, it was unfortunate but i still enjoyed the show. a muddy “the choke” is still “the choke”

Didn’t really expect him to be, but it would be interesting if Skinny Puppy did perform with a larger lineup on occasion.
On Handover the credits read:
ohGr- voice, synth
cEvin Key- synth, percussion, electronics, guitar, theremin
Mark Walk-programming, guitar, bass
Ken Hitwatt Marshall-programming, synth, FX
Traz Damji-additional programming, synth
Saki Kaskas-guitar
Imagine if that was their touring lineup too?
On Weapon the credits simply read:
All songs: Skinny Puppy (cEvin Key, N. Ogre, Mark Walk)
Additional instruments on Paragun: Traz Damji
I don’t think their live drummer (Justin Bennett) has ever been on one of their studio albums, kinda weird but I guess not for their genre.

Man, I was in KC this weekend and left Sunday, if I had realized the show was that night I may have stayed another night and called in to work the next day. I just forgot all about it, but a friend of mine had mentioned it a while ago and I had planned on it. You don’t happen to know Jeremy Gaston do you? That’s the guy who told me about the show. Maybe a long shot but it never surprises me lately how small a world it is. He got some pretty cool photos of the show.

The name doesn’t sound familiar, but it would’t surprise me if I did know him. I come from a HUGE family in the KC area.

One of our friends in the Burning Man crowd. He’s got an industrial band of his own, I forget the name.
The Portland show on Sunday night was fantastic. Great sound, great visuals, cool set-list.
I would highly recommend seeing this tour if they come to your town.
We got cheated out of the second encore by a technical problem though…
They finished the first encore, went off stage, then the music started building up for them to come back out… but then suddenly something electrical must have blown because there was a puff of black smoke (as opposed to the white smoke of the fog machines), and the fire alarm went off, house lights came up, and the venue cleared the building. We were just exiting the door when the fire department were coming in. Besides that it was an awesome show.
I found the openers (BAAL) a bit boring… there was some big rumbly bass and some thumpy drumming, but it was all a bit same-y… lacking dynamics…
I didn’t even get a good look at the merch table because there was a huge line for it from the time we arrived till SP started playing, and after that I was watching the show (and no change at the end, obviously).
Looking forward the show at The Mayan tomorrow night.
Went to the SF show last night to find out it was SOLD OUT. So I just decided to hang out outside the whole time. Met some cool people, including the lady from Baal. However, meeting SP wasn’t as cool as I’d hoped. CEvin Key gave a half assed handshake and when I went to meet Ogre he just said “we gotta go” to his friend. Totally not what I expected from him, but it doesn’t totally take away from the good time I did have.
