Here’s a quick primer on making your own torrent.
First of all, you’ll need a program like MakeTorrent (http://krypt.dyndns.org:81/torrent/maketorrent/). You’ll need to browse for the folder/files you wish to share. You also need to specify the address of the tracker you’re going to share on. For mininova, they reccommend:
* http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce
* http://tracker.bitebbs.com:6969/announce
* http://www.torrent-downloads.to:2710/announce
* http://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announce
* udp://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announce
* http://www.torrentrealm.com/announce.php
For demonoid:
* http://inferno.demonoid.com:3402/announce
Maketorrent should then verify all the files and then save a .torrent file on your computer.
Next step, go to Mininova or Demonoid and click on the “Upload A Torrent” link. Fill in the category and description or whatever information is needed, and then browse for the .torrent file you just created. Click on the finish button to upload the .torrent file to the tracker.
Last, you’ll need to open the .torrent file in Azureus or whatever torrent client you use. I think it varies by tracker, but some of them you can just open the file you created on your computer, while others you may have to download it back from the tracker. When it opens in your client, browse for the files that you are trying to share. It should then verify them and you should see them in the “seeding” section of your client. Then just make sure you keep the client open until some others make it to 100% and you’re not the only seed.
It may sound kind of complicated, but after you’ve done it a couple of times it’s easy.
