i’ve commented on this a bunch of times, but I think the constant printing errors for the cds/dvds really took alot of money out of the label too.
Also I read in an interview with tony campos on some website that he was going down to work on al’s solo cd around the beginning of the new year. So i’m guessing that’s what’s next on 13th planets menu
on a different note, pigface, revco, thrill kill, chemlab, etc all probably couldn’t sell out a semi big tour right now on their own, but aren’t these people kinda friendly or at least acquented with each other? you’d think they’d maybe do a package tour together instead of bringing even smaller bands and not pulling in a draw.
16volt, Chemlab and Left Spine Down are doing a tour together this spring, which kind of close to what you’re suggesting.
Yeah, I think 13th Planet being anything but an Al vanity label just ain’t gonna happen.
As far as Stayte goes, a lot more people know about them now than they would have a few years ago, so their time may not have been totally wasted. At the end of the day, I don’t see them becoming big. As much as I dig Josh as a performer the music’s a little “sub-Orgy” style and rather out-dated. Frankly I’d rather dust off “candyass” than listen to a new Stayte record.
I think you’re quite right about them “not necessarily wasting their time” especially with the amount of PR that josh does before and after gigs makes him a very approachable/likable dude. Also, the newer record may have a different feel/sound. I’m willing to give it a shot, abandon in the Amber was pretty good if it’s as good as or better than that album it’s money well spent.

And remember Ministry brought TKK and Hanzel Und Gretyl on tour with them for HotM.
But you know, most of the lower tier bands didn’t attract big crowds, even back in the day.
