holy moly. nice find.
Chicago, IL 12/20/1984
“hizbollah” intro
all day (with extra samples @ start?)
do you even like it
cold life (with live bass, as opposed to synth)
the nature of love (with patty? on vocals)
revenge
halloween
i’ll do anything for you
work for love
here we go (!!!)
ricky’s hand
i’m falling (no synth bass)
fuckin’ cool transitional set list. al already is sporting his “over the shoulder” video look though. only setlists as weird as these ones were twitch-to-lorah transitional tours. wouldn’t mind seeing/hearing those in decent quality.
also i wonder if they actually recorded do you even like it and ill do anything for you.
also this!!! finally a better rip (still not perfect quality but at least image is not shaking/garbled), MINNEAPOLIS 1983 PRO SHOT!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHJZLbBeWK4
edit:
i like how in 1983 announcing cold life he says “this is a real old one”, the track was only two years old XD

Venue: The Exit
SET LIST NOTES
Intro
All Day
Do You Even Like It?
Cold Life
The Nature of Love
Revenge
(Everyday Is) Halloween
I Will Do Anything For You
Work For Love
Here We Go
Ricky’s Hands
I’m Falling
This was supposedly the final date of this tour, and was to be a send-off of all With Sympathy material (Al was pretty much fed up with Arista at this point). The intro to this show is possibly an early version of the track “Hizbollah”, while “Ricky’s Hands” is a Fad Gadget cover.
OTHER PERFORMERS
Unknown.
DOCUMENTATION
A video recording of this show exists. There is an audio version in circulation, however it was ripped from a copy of the video.
The 84 show is gold. There are two 84 shows in circulation, but unfortunately the audio quality isn’t the greatest, which is a shame, because I love the two unreleased tracks.
You just killed the rest of my weekend. Thanks.

There are actually 3 out there, but the third is nothing better on the sound side. Unless you mean 2 videos. The Chicago one is the only one I know of.
Top notch stuff. Pity the Roskide footage isn’t complete (despite it saying so).
Love the Toronto 88 show. Is that Chris Connelly in the white coat?

toronto 88 show - white coat guy (on the right) is actually Bill Rieflin, he plays only keyboards and guitars, fancy that!! drummer is Bill Ward. Barker obviously on the far left. in middle of stage obviously Al and…OGRE who does some vox (no devotion for example) and pretends to play a guitar. and it seems there’s no connelly.
drummer is Bill Ward.
HAHAHAHA Don’t you mean Jeff?
and it seems there’s no connelly.
According to his book Al was mad at him around this time.
ah yes Jeff ward, that’s right, i just had a brain fart
so al was mad at chris at around 88 yet chris was on lorah, and then on mind and on psalm as well
hmmmm, fukin’ weird
I forget why Al was mad at Chris. I can’t remember if Chris explained it, but all was well after the tour.

That Same Old Madness Demo is fucking amazing.
I love how Al looks in the 84 show. He really reminds me of the comicbook character Sandman from the DC Vertigo comic line-up in that vid. [blush]
Plus best version of ‘Everyday is Halloween’ imo.
