Dude, Olympico is a very decent record! It’s gonna get more spins than all of the bush trilogy got and I spun the shit outta those 3 albums. I guess I should say Olympico will stay in rotation longer than the W trilogy did, which will ultimately end up giving it more spins.

I would be interested in hearing some of these remix producers (especially David “Rave” Ogilvie) IF they were remixing classic Revolting Cocks, not this new bastardization we have going.
But seriously, as others have mentioned, is EVERY FUCKING 13th Planet release going to have a FUCKING REMIX album?!?! Good God!
Remember when Ministry remixes were fucking dope (as in the German singles boxset)?
Sorry, it’s just not Revolting Cocks for me, call it something else!
I listened to Olympico and it’s horrendous. I don’t think a remix album could be much worse… or better.
RevCrap indeed.
Maybe the remixes will make the songs listenable… then again probably not.
Well for those of you who hate the new revco, how much worse can it get?
People are such fucking hypocrites. I love remix albums. Every disc that the orignal Wax Trax released was usually preceeded or followed by some sort of Remix EP that the masses loved. KMFDM, Thrill Kill, Revco, etc.
Even the later TVT/WT gave us remixes.
Now, everyone throws a fit that 13th Planet gives us remixes. The Prong remix album was a nice compliment to the original. (Don’t respond if you don’t like the original album). Cocktail, Mixxx and Dub were average I agree, but still had a few bright spots. I for one hated how little output Jourgensen and co. gave us from 91-03. Now they may be giving us too much, but I just prefer to select what I do like.
So many of you have simply become cynics that blast any news that comes out of El Paso.

not every release with wax trax! had remixes… it seems that more discs than not have remixes over at Al’s label.

[reply]Waah, waah, somebody stoled my band!
I believe Chris was referring to the remix from back in 93. And he was correct.

Nah, it was just dull. Al’s not much of a remixer, honestly. Most of the old remixes were just slightly longer versions of the originals with maybe a few new samples thrown in. His remixes of other peoples’ stuff was never stellar either (see Gravity Kills, Jesus & Mary Chain). That reminds me though, whatever happened to the remixes that Sin and that other guy were touring with?

Don’t even bother. The only response you’ll get is that all this stuff is objectively terrible and there must be something wrong with YOU for liking.
Fuck 'em. Listen to what you want.

KMFDM have released their fair share of singles in their day with a few remixes, but nothing close to an insane amount. And I think you’re exaggerating a little with 13. Kinda weird to be defending them, but they’ve released a decent amount over the remix albums, which I think will be 4 after the new one.
Ministry - RGB, TLS, Cover
Prong had their album…can’t remember the name
Ascension
And the " cocks" have two albums.
I think those and the three, excluding the remix for the last “cocks”. That’s seven over three. They just don’t have too many releases under their belt, which is why the amount of remix albums are as high as they are. What else do they have to release? I think if Al and co (cough, I mean Angie) actually went out and signed some new blood, there may not be a need for the whole “remix albums for every album”, but I think the label was only meant for Al and friends (at the time) to release stuff.

Also, False Icons.
Not exactly memorable, that one.
And the Wicked Lake soundtrack. And Stayte is supposedly upcoming.
Nothing wrong with a good remix cd. At least it’s not the kmfdm way of like 15 mixes of the same song… a good hours worth of hookerbot 3000.
I’m looking forward to this.
LUUUUUC VAAAN AAAAAACKEEEER!
I, for one, am excited about this thang. I really dig the new RevCo, so fuck it.
Looks like I’l be buying the 801st copy of THIS, too. [laugh]

there’s like 3 of us here that like the NewCo… We should start a club! [;)]

I for one hated how little output Jourgensen and co. gave us from 91-03.
What we did get was great though. And anyway in that period we got a fair amount of stuff…
4 X Ministry albums
1 X Revco album
1 X Lard album
1 X Lard EP
Not to mention the other stuff Al produced and mixed in that period such as Reverend Horton Heat.
The 13th Planet remix albums have been absolute dirt IMHO.
I’m a HUGE fan of Electronic and Dub music and Rio Grande Dub was anything BUT Dub music. Why they called it Rio Grande Dub I’ll never know? Not only that but they even had GWB dressed as a rasta with a massive sound system??!!! What a joke.
I can’t comment on Sexo Remixes as I wouldn’t go anywhere near that poop let alone the actual album.
yeah quality >> quantity
for all it’s worth i know he actually could pump out anti-bush album with same similar riffs and lyrics every half-year

I figured the Dub was short for double-U.

I know it wasn’t meant to be funny but I actually laughed out loud with this. Thanks Porksy.
Sadly though Porky this recording was indeed an effort at a Dub album. If they SERIOUSLY wanted to Dub this album and to have it keep an element of “Industrial” about it, they should have secured the services of an actual Dub producer who would have no problem manipulating an Industrial Metal album into Dub…the man for that job would obviously have been Adrian Sherwood…he would have fucking nailed it. Probably would’ve been cheaper than those other guys too!
Right now Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound label is on fire with BIG releases featuring Lee Perry, Roots Manuva and Moody Boys not to mention Dubstep don Kode9.
They weren’t trying to make a real dub album. That’s just silly. It’s just an excuse to use “dub” as a pun. Maybe Maggittooth doesn’t know since he’s not from the States, but George W. Bush’s nickname here is “Dubya,” referring to how a redneck might say his middle initial. So they call the remix album Rio Grande Dub-Ya and put a picture of GWB in dreds on the cover (which makes me giggle every time I see it, honestly) as a joke.
If you search the archives, you’ll even find Mrs. J on this very board talking about the album and how she’s not sure whether you could actually classify it as “dub” or not.
