Sex-O Mixxx-O

Caught this at another forum. To say the least, i’m intrigued. Luuuuucccc Vaaaannnnn Aaaaacccckkerrrrr!!!

July 29, 2009 (El Paso, Texas) – RevCo (p/k/a Revolting Cocks), the long-running side project from Al Jourgensen and a slew of collaborators over the outfit’s twenty plus year history, will release a remix record titled Sex-O MiXXX-O on Sept. 29 via his own 13th Planet Records.

The ten track album couples longtime conspirators including Luc Van Acker, Dave “Rave” Ogilvie and Marilyn Manson’s Chris Vrenna with current RevCo players Clayton Worbeck and Stayte (which features the aforementioned Worbeck as well as Josh Bradford). The original album, Sex-O Olympic-O, was released in the fall of 2008 and was hailed by Alternative Press as the “most satisfying album” Jourgensen had created to date with RevCo and went on to dub the album as a “celebration of hedonism and glorious excess.”

Orchestrating the previously announced LubricaTour, RevCo’s first North American headline run in twenty years, is the legendary master of the unceremonious Jim Rose, of The Jim Rose Circus fame, featuring Jim’s cast of freaks and characters, revolving nightly. Previously announced support acts include Blownload and Left Spine Down. Jourgensen joins the RevCo circus as a special guest artist for the El Paso, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York dates only.

Wow a remix disc I can actually get excited about for once. Graham Crabb of PWEI is an excellent choice, his Golden Claw Musics disc from the mid-nineties is a forgotten gem. Of course Dave Ogilvie’s pedigree speaks for itself.

The fact that there’s an actual lineup of contributors from the outside for once, is enough to interest me. The last two remix albums to come from that camp was all Clayton, wasn’t it? About time for some variety. A little too good to be true though.

Are you kidding?

Excited over a bunch of shitty remixes by shitty artists of shitty songs by a shitty band now left without a single solitary original freakin’ member left in its line-up and who weren’t even particularly exciting in the first place??

Either you don’t get out much or you own every single album that both Orgy and Coal Chamber ever released during their limited, miserable existances.

Whatever the excuse, you two should be ashamed of yourselves. Even the fanboys over at Litany are guffawing at this.

This is all the world needs right now - ANOTHER remix of a 13th Planet album that sold approximately 30 units to inbred teeny goths high on helium and prescription medication on their way home from a KMFDM reunion gig.

LordPiko & Chemical Meat, I’m glad to see you’re excited about the disc. I hope you enjoy it. I had a lot of fun putting it together. I also hired the remixers for the Prong remix CD that came out in May. Its important to me to try and get artists involved that can sort of pay homage to the subject matter. I like to try and mix in name guys with some more obscure artists as well. MegaJive for example was a founding member of The Warlock Pinchers and Foreskin 500 if you’re familiar with them. So far the Seismologist mix seems to be the biggest surprise to everyone when they listen to the disc. I liked what he did so much on the Prong disc that I brought him back for this one and he really delivered. I’m really proud of how this disc turned out.

Ugh. Not again.

The farmer needs a new cow…cuz this one’s been milked about as bone dry as a cow can be milked.

Wonder when the remix album of ‘Adios Putas Madres’ hits the stands??

are they gonna remix EVERY cd that comes out? maybe they should just mixed it that way the first place that way we don’t need a look back on a cd that came out 7 months ago!

I’m sure I’ll buy it. I can’t help myself [:(]

lol, another album.

ATKINS!

lol this is going to suck for sure. mind you, they also planned a remix album for the last sucker. also, this spelling of “mix” as “mixxx” and all it’s variarions, seriously, it was fine for one cd, but using it always is fucking annoying.

are they gonna remix EVERY cd that comes out?

Until the IRS finish knocking on Al’s door - yes.

I figure if Al’s lawsuit against Paul had gone through and he was a little more cashed up, then we wouldn’t be now subjected to this nauseating remix-a-thon baloney.

By the way, I just heard Stayte for the first time and…oh boy.

I’m sure I’ll buy it. I can’t help myself

It’s not yr fault. It’s the ‘smalltown boy’ deep inside of you that makes you keep rootin’ for the underdog.

they should also release remix album for “cover up”. imagine that.

I’ve only heard the “abandon in the amber” cd and I like it

Mix the damn songs right the first time.

it’s called cash grab, heh. I think it’s a little annoying that every album they release comes in twos. They know they’re shit doesn’t exaftly sell like it used to, so I guess they feel as though they have to? It’s a nice lineup and i’m curious to hear it, but these remix albums really are overkill.

Ha!
But seriously, I like remix albums, particularly when there’s a diversity of remixers. Hell, sometimes the remix album is better than the original (the recent Prong remix album for example).

I hope you enjoy it. I had a lot of fun putting it together. I also hired the remixers for the Prong remix CD that came out in May.

As long as we’ve got an inside man reading the board, any word on when the new Stayte album is getting released? Aside from Peligro, I think just about everyone here digs their material.

This is the only track I still enjoy so I’m looking forward to this one:

Touch Screen (Shower Strangulation mix) – Remixed by Luc Van Acker

Easily my favorite track on that album by far. Luc’s remix of fire engine wasn’t exactly that good though. All he did was turn down the guitars in the mix, and maybe a few very minor changes. Nothing really all too original.

The release date is in the middle of the tour, I wonder how that will work for the merch tables. I’m seeing RevCo on October 10, so hopefully I’ll be able to pick up the CD then.

Dave Ogilvie hasn’t been associated with Skinny Puppy or good music in general since the mid-'90s, it kind of irks me to still see “Dave Ogilvie of Skinny Puppy” on remix stuff.

The Puscifer remix CD had similar outdated band associations (Dave Ogilvie of Skinny Puppy! Paul Barker of Ministry!).
