This is a good thread.
Can’t believe only about ONE person has mentioned The Melvins so far.
Melvins fucking eat ‘epic’ for breakfast!
Gonna have to throw Dessau’s “Sun” and “Beijing” in the mix.
Those two make me want to climb mountains and throw cinderblocks.

Deftones are a good band, good not great, Change has always been one of my favourites.
NIN - Burn (somebody has to show Reznor some love)
well if if by epic one means going through basically every range of emotion, fast slow, etc… then i’d give it to queen’s bohemian rhapsody… not at all a song to back up on an industrial/metal bands forum but fuck it (buttfuck it?) that song really really takes you on a journey. especially for a mainstream pop song
The most epic song known to mankind is easily…
Melvins “Air Breather Deep In The Arms Of Morphius”
^^
What about -
‘They All Must Be Slaughtered’?
Velvet Underground - Heroin
Billy Idol “Heroin”
(sorry, couldn’t resist)
I’ve definitely gotta add the fifteen-minute remix of Godflesh’s “Crush My Soul” to the list. Not only is it DEVASTATING[mad][mad][mad]!!1, but it also manages to make one of the weaker tracks off Selfless, “Toll,” a whole lot better.
Finally some downtime…some tracks that sound epic to me…

No way that song is just a spooky ambient album opener. “Air Breather Deep In The Arms Of Morphius” is an absolute epic. Puts all the other epics listed so far to shame.
These two would work as well

Foetus: Anything (Viva!)
