Seeing NIN/Bauhaus tonight over Ministry

Yeah so I had the opportunity to see either Ministry/RevCo or NIN/Bauhaus tonight and I’m going with NIN/Bauhaus.

I would have liked to see the Revolting Cocks, but I have no interest in Slayer—I mean Ministry—'s thrash metal set. I’ll take Bauhaus and oldschool NIN tunes like “Get Down Make Love”, “Burn” and shit from The Fragile over 2 hours of screaming Michael Moore propaganda backed by shitty metal riffs anyday.

At least you’ll be able to hear after NIN/Bauhaus.

Actually, I caught Bauhaus earlier this year, and it was a good show. Not as intense or visually memorable as their Resurrection tour in '98, but still good to see those old farts cranking out the goods.

I still say they should do a Bauhaus & Side Projects tour. No opener…just three hours of Bauhaus, solo Pete and Daniel, some Tones On Tail, and a crappy song or two from Dali’s Car and David J. Ok, it looks better on paper.

I’m seeing Ministry the 28th and 30th and then Bauhaus/NIN the third. If I had to pick, I don’t know…if I didn’t know the srtlist, I’d go with Ministry. But since I DO know the setlist, and have now heard the boot that’s floating around…hm.
I would LOVE to hear some Tones on Tail, though! Can you imagine everyone swaying with lighters out to “Rain?” Awesome.

I just want to hear “Christian Says” live. [:P]

What, no Love & Rockets?

Ah shit, can’t believe I forgot the biggest one. I’m a dork.

1002

latest setlist is:

Double Dare
In The Flat Field
God In an Alcove
She’s In Parties
Adrenaline
Severance
Silent Hedges
In Fear Of Fear
Endless Summer Of The Damned
Rosegarden Funeral Of Sores
Stigmata Martyr
Dark Entries

I’m going to see NIN/Bauhaus/Peaches in two weeks. I’m quite pleased.

I checked out Ministry last Saturday and I must admit, I was quite disappointed.

There was no more than 400 people in the club. (they even closed the entire upper section).

The music was WAY too loud, and the pit was lousy. (and dirty! bastards with their elbows in the air)

And I had to argue with this fart knocker that was complaining and saying we should get our money back because Jello and Gibby were not there.

The scalpers were selling tix outside for 10$. IF I decide to see them again, I’ll just go the day of the show to pick up my tickets.

The setlist looked so good on here, but live it was kind of… meh. All I kept thinking about was how I would like to hear stuff like TLORAH, or Dead Guy, or Never Believe or something…

Who are the Peaches? Are they to be at the Indianapolis show? And while I’m really excited about “She’s In Parties,” “God In An Alcove,” “Silent Hedges,” and especially “In the Flat Field,” is there to be no “Bela Lugosi…” or “Hollow Hills” or “The Passion of Lovers?” Damn.
Still, I’m really looking forward to this show - I never in a million years thought I’d get to see Bauhaus at all. I was like, five or something when they ‘broke up,’ and I missed the Resurrection tour due to gigs of my own. This is great news indeed.

Yeah…boy am I glad I saw NIN/Bauhaus!!!

AWESOME show!! It was at the PNC Bank Arts Center or whatever in NJ…this beautiful outdoor venue colloseum thing…and such a gorgeous day.

We arrived late (were pre-gaming with a blunt and some gin/tonic in the parking lot) and caught the last few songs of Bauhaus’ set.

The songs were “Rosegarden Funeral of Sores”, “Stigmata Martyr”, a song I didn’t recognize, and my all-time favorite “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”.

Fucking great performance by the goth rockers. “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” put chills up my spine…and “Stigmata Martyr” was very intense with flashing red strobes and Peter Murphy looking absolutely demonic using a pole to make himself look crucified. God it was awesome. The band looks and sounds great! Would love to see these guys again in the future…very impressive.

NIN were awesome too. It’s obvious the new line-up took some time to really gel but now they sound and look great! Alessandro Cortini was quite impressive.

They played a huge variety of material from ALL of their albums. Al Jourgensen needs to take some fuckin notes.

Highlights included “La Mer” flawlessly syncing into “Into the Void”. Also they played “The Big Comedown” which was awesome because I love that song and didn’t expect to ever hear it live. Lots of stuff from The Fragile…very cool.

I also noticed they’ve been working a lot more on those electronic noises in the background…seems more spontaneous and lots of interesting/cool industrial noises being triggered during the songs so it doesn’t just sound like a rock band when they play live; the industrial aspect is represented as well. Again, Al Jourgensen needs to take notes.

“Something I Can Never Have” was beautiful. They busted out that new track “Non-Entity” which was pretty cool.

Another interesting thing was they played “Help Me I am in Hell” (instrumental from Broken EP) and there were these incredible lighting effects. Impossible to describe but breathtaking visual effects. This whole NIN tour has had some AWESOME visuals. Fucking cool.

Oh, and how could I forget they did that cover of Joy Division’s “Dead Souls” that appeared on The Crow soundtrack. Very good rendition of an awesome song.

The whole thing was just such a cool experience. I really had a great time. Both bands played their ass off. Really glad I saw this over the Al Jourgensen “Bush Sux” tour.

peaches is a trashy electroclash chick from toronto. she does most of her own music and production. she’s got great choruses like “fuck the pain away” and most tracks i’ve heard seem to be about sex. she did a song with iggy pop last year that got some airplay around detroit at least.

Alright, I can get into that…I’ll let you know what I think. Sounds cool, though. Voidhead, glad you had a good time. I’m really looking forward to this now!
I do find it funny that both groups were playing “Dark Entries” on the same night, though!
I bought the 2-disc boot of Bauhaus in L.A. from back in October, and I must say they still pull off all of the intensity of their “legendary” performances. I’m curious if they’ve heard the Cocks’ version of it?

Peaches is great sleazy stuff. I think the first two albums are a bit of an aquired taste, but the new one sounds incredible.
Also, I’ve read that Trent has been playing tracks from Rio Grande Blood before/between bands.

Peaches, for what it’s worth, is funny. She’s pretty badass too. One of those ‘I’m the greatest people ever’ kinda people.

I remember watching Muchmusic a while ago, and Madonna is a fan of hers and asked Peaches to do a remix of one of her songs, and Peaches said no to her because her new music sucks. (or something along those lines…)
Quite impressive since a remix of a Madonna song could of boosted her popularity.

She kinda looks like that Sandra Bernhert(sp?) chick though… =/

Peaches is like Lords of Acid if the songs were written with the presets from an old Casio.

I would LOVE to hear some Tones on Tail, though! Can you imagine everyone swaying with lighters out to “Rain?” Awesome.

Daniel Ash did a solo tour a few years back where he did material from Tones On Tail, Bauhaus, and Love And Rockets, along with his own material. Didn’t do “Rain”, unfortunately–he kind of stuck with the tried and true guitar-heavy “Christian Says”, “GO!”, and “OK This Is The Pops”, but I wasn’t complaining. Plus he did “Slice Of Life” which I always felt was a Tones On Tail song under the Bauhaus name anyway.

There’s a live Daniel Ash CD out called “Come Alive” which is basically from that tour and has all those songs on it. I haven’t been able to pick it up yet, but I’m sure it’s worth checking out.

Cool, thanks! I really must check that out. I’ve always prefered Daniel Ash’s material. Good call on “Slice of Life,” too!

I saw that Daniel Ash tour and have that CD…highly recommended!

Hey, this thread reminds me: does anyone have the Trent Reznor/Peter Murphy radio performances they’ve been doing before some of the shows? Atlanta would be preferable, but I’ll take any of them if someone’s got them to share.

If you PM me your email, I can send you the three Peter Murphy/Trent Reznor songs, as well as the three Peter Murphy/Trent Reznor/TV on the Radio songs.

Cool, thanks! I really must check that out. I’ve always prefered Daniel Ash’s material. Good call on “Slice of Life,” too!

Oh, and not to mention that Tones On Tail also played “Slice Of Life” during the few concerts they did in 1984, which I found out after hearing bootlegs of some shows. That pretty much confirmed my suspicions.
