Another one listen and done. Sounds pretty generic to me.

Yeah, I’m not excited.
Hopefully all the deep cuts will make up for these weak singles.

Nothing magical but I like the cover. Not nu/speed metal so that’s gooooooooood.

I’ve never really checked out Iggy & the Stooges, but had to check out the original version after hearing this. Not really sold on either version, but it’s a cover anyways so I don’t care. The only essential cover version by Ministry is still

… Roadhouse Blues!!

Still, I like the sound. I can differentiate the instruments from each other, drums sound like drums, no fox news samples… gives me a little hope. Then again, we have now heard 3 of the 7-or-was-it-9 tracks from the album, and it’s a pretty safe bet the album isn’t going to be stellar…:frowning:

Very generic and boring. It’s like the soft rock version of Ministry.

The video too.

I’m a huge Iggy/Stooges fan and I like the choice for a cover even though I’m generally not interested in cover songs…this one doesn’t do much for me but I’m not gonna write the album off…I generally enjoy what Al does even if he will never make anything on the level of the glory days…on it goes…

Yeah hard for anyone to beat the original for me. When Al said they were doing the song I imagined it would be more over the top. I’ve listened to it three times today, I like the song and like the video better.

That intro bassline was a little barker-esque… just not thick enough.
Yeah this one is a dud. I guess his vocals are okay but the music is boring.

Al talks about how this cover came to sound the way it does.

The track features a guest spot by Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison, and the decision to cover the tune was inspired by a performance at a benefit show in 2019.

“We rehearsed it and the song was perfect but the show was running late and by the time we got onstage, I was in half time and singing the lyrics twice as slow,” explained Jourgensen in a press release. “Fortunately Billy and Dave Navarro are professionals and they realized what was going on and sort of covered for me but I felt horrible. Billy thought it actually sounded really good in half-time so he came to me with the idea of going into the studio and recording it that way. And I figured I owed him one.”

In Heavy Consequence ‘s own recent interview with Jourgensen, the Ministry mastermind further told us he received Stooges singer Iggy Pop’s stamp of approval on the cover. “I didn’t want to put it on the record until I sent it to Iggy and got his thumb’s up,” Jourgensen revealed to us. “And he listened to it, and he doesn’t understand how we came up with it that way, but he gave us the thumb’s up.”

Warming up to this on the 3rd listen… and I like the video. Nice change from stupid lyric videos, stock news footage and half-assed live settings.

I can almost hear Iggy saying something like “I don’t know what the fuck you’re doing man, but whatever. I’m cool with it.”

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I was thinking it might even be less invested.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I don’t need to hear it. Al’s cool. Tell him he can have the song.”
