Artwork from his last release…Screen printed PIG posters. Limited, signed and numbered on thick recycled paper.
Was PIG always an acronym for “Pain Is God” or that was just a recent thing?
I’ve never followed Raymond or the band closely, so forgive me if this is something that everyone is supposed to know already.
Just for this release…clever I guess.
Lucy you have some 'splaning to do. Tsk tsk
Cool posters I guess I tend to keep NU Pig and NU KMFDM at arms length. The quality of stuff they produce falls off a cliff after the 00s.
NU PIG has been better than NU KMFDM though. At least in my opinion.
Those posters are pretty sick. Wish would do one for the Death tarot art. Been using that as my phones screensaver.
“NU PIG has been better than NU KMFDM though.”
Totally agree!
Well that’s like saying Terminator Salvation is better than Terminator Dark Fate. They’re both still craptastic
Bad analogy…but yeah you can’t compare PIG in 2020 vs 2000 or even 1994, etc. Raymond is a different beast…off drugs, a dad, older. At least Pig didn’t go the course of Trent!
It’s actually a perfect analogy. Reznor has produced some quality stuff since his junky days so that makes no sense. Some of it’s been hit and miss but to insinuate that Reznor’s post junky phase is worse than Watt’s is fucking nutty.
Curious to hear what is considered peak KMFDM and PIG. Both were great at one point, but yeah, that’s 20 years ago at least.
Sascha took Ray’s backing band and NU KMFDM has turned out some solid tunes, but for the most part is mediocre. More so in the last few years, but nothing tops the trinity of Nihil, Xtort and Symbols for me. Dig the classics too though, but those were tops for me.
NU PIG gained En as a member and Guenter for a bit. Steve is also out of KMFDM and back in PIG. I’ve dug the new output to some extent and glad to see Ray is in a much better place. Risen is probably the strongest of the NU PIG albums. The Gospel was alright, Pain Is God has some good moments, but recycled a bit to much.
Peak PIG albums for me, probably Wrecked and Sinsation. I need to give the older material more time and focus though.
Last great release…both from 1999!
