[reply]Hey what does all of verus (vs) mean? Are these guys brawling in the studio for the right to controll the sound board and edit the song or what?
Late,

Heh. Probably the equivelant of what KMFDM did with Pig vs. KMFDM, or SKOLD vs. KMFDM. Just a collaborative effort, but with a more “edgy” name latched onto it. Been meaning to try getting into dub, dubstep, etc. etc. Maybe i’ll start here?[/reply]
Yeah “vs” is just a collab or a remix/dub by someone other than the original artist.
For original Jamaican Dub start with Jacob Miller’s “Who Sey Jah No Dread” Lordy. It features the vocal tune then the Dub courtesy of the masters Augustus Pablo & King Tubby. Below is two tunes from it…

For some future Dub you can’t beat “Sly & Robbie Drum & Bass Stripped To The Bone By Howie B”. This was released in 1999 and is still the deadliest and most alien sounding modern Dub imo. Below is a few tunes from it…

As for Dubstep…the best (so called) Dubstep album imo is Scuba’s “Triangulation”. Burial’s albums are also essential…they’re sublime. The Skull Disco (Shackleton & Appleblim) compilation “Soundbwoy Punishment” is another essential along with Shackleton’s 3EP and the RSD comp album. Distance’s first album “My Demons” is another classic. Skream’s debut is another one to check.
One dude who I can’t recommend enough for Industrial fans and fans of rather heavy electronic music is a Japanese dude called Goth Trad. Check some of his tunes on his myspace…

My fave tune of Goth Trad’s is “Far East Assassin”…check it out…

As far as the original Jamaican Dub albums go I could bang on forever and a day about them…that Jacob Miller/King Tubby/Augustus Pablo release is definately the one to start off with though so I’ll leave it at that…I’m going to stop now as this reply is getting a little bit out of hand!
