(Saturday Is) Halloween

Well, here’s the setlist for our Halloween show this Saturday night. I’m hoping to get all 3 sets taped by a friend. My bassist is singing the first 3 songs out of the gate, plus “Yes” in the 3rd set, I’m singing the rest. A friend from Seattle is flying down to do her best Sinead imitation in the 2nd set on “Kingdom Of Rain”.

We’re gonna fill the stage with smoke, balloons, and lights, and the owner of the bar is projecting old horror films behind us, so it should be a real festive atmosphere. We have extra songs on the sidelines (Cure, Mission, Wire, Church) in case we play longer. I figure by the 3rd set, I’ll be nice and drunk with half a voice left…perfect for the RevCo song. Speaking of, I isolated the snare from the Halloween 12" and grabbed the percussion loop from BSL, and the sequence came out perfect, sounds a lot like the live version from YGDSOB (which was my intention). I’ll try to post some audio/video next week.

I’m Deranged (Bowie)
Waste (242)
Mambo Witch (A Split Second)
Hearts and Minds (Nitzer Ebb)
Everyday Is Halloween (of course)
Chasing Shadows (original)
Blood (Editors)
The Darkest Place (original)

Kingdom Of Rain (The The)
Consumed (original)
All Night Long (Peter Murphy)
Back Door (Clan Of Xymox)
Persuasion (IKON)
In Ruins (original)
A Forest (The Cure)
Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division)

The Diversion (original)
Hands Off Me (Red Lorry Yellow Lorry)
Twilight Of The Mortal (Killing Joke)
Lucretia My Reflection (The Sisters Of Mercy)
Yes (Click Click)
Testure (Skinny Puppy)
I Rage I Melt (Click Click)
I Prefer (Ministry)
Attack Ships On Fire (RevCo)

Have a good Halloween all, whatever you may be doing.

Man, I’d be so in if you were anywhere near me.

That’s a pretty rad setlist.

wow, I would have loved to come to that. I have nothing to do this Halloween [:(]

Sounds cool lad.

All the best with it.

Holy crap, that’s a lot of songs for one night.
You’re like the goth Bruce Springsteen.

Sounds fun. I’m probably going to a Misfits/Samhain/Danzig tribute thing. Should be fun as well. I love Halloween.

FFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK.

Were it not for my primo’s birthday being today, I’d abandon everything and everyone to make that show. Sounds absolutely epic.

“The Darkest Place” is getting some play tonight. Just for you.

testure? awesome!

Fun!
Looking forward to seeing video

Great show last night. Ended up playing 29 songs over the course of 4-1/2 hours. I do have some video to upload, our camera malfunctioned, but a friend was recording some clips with her digital camera. I Prefer and Attack Ships actually received really good crowd response. The stage was filled with smoke, the strobe light was flashing…it was almost like being in our own YGDSOB video! I’ll have to see if it was captured, I sure hope so. The bar manager requested a Dolby song after we were finished, so we played a short encore of a few of our older covers:

I Live In A Suitcase (Thomas Dolby)
I’m Deranged (David Bowie) - for the late-comers
Cuts You Up (Peter Murphy)
Under The Milky Way (The Church)

It was a fun night, and the sound mix was perfect, lots of compliments on our levels and the songs. We’re releasing three digital singles on Thanksgiving, and then hopefully the full album will be ready by the end of December. We’re gonna try to get out of town next year for some West Coast shows, and I’d really like to play Chicago sometime in the near future, maybe by the end of 2010.

No alcohol hangover today, but my whole body is incredibly sore. I’ll be sleeping good tonight.

Sounds great, that was some impressive line up. I wish I could have been there as our Halloween got rained out, but hopefully the video turned out well.

Anxious to see some footage of this. Awesome list.

That sucks.
We too have had camera and audio recording malfunctions during some great performances. It’s always shitty to finish something and be really pleased with it and then find out it didn’t record for some reason or another.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you did capture.

Ok, this is what I could salvage from my friend’s digital camera. Testure and maybe one or two others are so dark you can’t see anything, but at least you can hear the songs. As I suspected, our main camera didn’t do the deed, it just decided to stop, full battery and all, who knows. My apologies in advance for the cackling bitch and her friends who were incredibly annoying with their non-stop laughter during the Xymox song (possibly one of the other clips, too). Seriously, someone must’ve told the world’s funniest joke at their table, it was constant screaming and laughter from their table for a while. I’m glad they felt the need to sit up front. Unfortunately, no audio or video for the Ministry, RevCo, Split Second, and Click Click songs. Argh. Figures.

Great stuff Tenohtwo. Was a quality set, makes for a good show that could be enjoyed standing up front or sitting back with a few beers. I prefer those kind of shows nowadays. Those idiots laughing must have been a pain alright. Its the height of ignorance to do that between songs when a band is playing and it is otherwise quiet. I think the best option to deal with them is to completely ignore their existence, or maybe try and burst into a song just as they start to laugh again. If you were of a more German persuasion you might have urinated on them but that probably would be best avoided. Probably.

Hope you enjoyed it yourself anyway. Keep it up.
