I wonder if this will have any repercussions for Ministry? I’m guessing that they’ll be looking to streamline their operations and I doubt Ministry are doing much for them in terms of revenue.
That sucks, man. I just happen to be a big fan of Simple Minds, who recently signed w/Sanctuary, and a domestic release of their forthcoming LP has yet to be announced, so hopefully it doesn’t become another ‘Neapolis’ (for those of you who like Simple Minds, their new material is the best stuff they’ve done since the '84 - '87 era…no kidding). I’ve heard/read mixed reviews about Sanctuary’s promotion of artists, and it’s too bad to read this latest article about them. I would like to see them stay alive, as I think they have a good thing going.

Have they done much for Ministry in terms of promotion? The impression I’ve got was that Sanctuary have just put out their records and let them do their thing (not that that is necessarily a bad thing). It was pretty cool that they put out Sphinctour though, I have the feeling Warner weren’t prepared to do it and that’s why it took so long (somewhat ironically though it was Warners that distributed it down here).
Did they really part ways with Morrissey?

There’s a statement he made here:[url “http://www.true-to-you.net/#050528”]http://www.true-to-you.net/#050528 (you might have already seen it), make of it what you will. It would seem odd though, considering he’s one of their most visible artists and that You Are The Quarry bucked all rhyme, reason and criticism to sell over a million copies. I wouldn’t imagine that leaving Sanctuary would exactly help him either, since they were the ones that put him back at the top.
In australia at least, I remember sphinctour at least coming out, the CD + DVD were in most CD stores around the place, under new releases etc, so it must have been somewhat promoted?
When animositisomina + houses came out, I saw ads in Kerrang… and thats it. As far as I know, at least at the CD stores around me had no word of them, after sphinctour all the ministry subsections got pulled and their cds are just put in randomly now. I remeber the “box” singles one store was selling for like a buck each after the box got torn and they wernt selling for $24.95 each! Unfortunately I had already bought a sealed Box from the same store for like $59 earlier in that year. Animosit… I saw in some big chain stores (JB Hi-FI) but thats it. I have yet to see a copy of Houses around…
