Don’t see this one listed on the page or a post about it. I popped in The Exorcist III last night and within the first minute recognized something so familiar. Bill is walking the streets and some people run by holding something high. They’re saying something over and over. Mine doesn’t have subtitles so I’m not sure what it is, but it sounds like “het, het, het” or something similar. Used in the beginning and throughout NWO.
Interesting enough, later in the movie you see a poster on the wall of a skull x-ray. Movie came out in 1990 though, so unless Al saw it in theaters right before Mind came out, I don’t think that’s where he got the idea.
Loved the movie, btw. Shot brilliantly.
Edit: The sample page does credit the movie for a wailing sound in Scarecrow. I’ll have to re-watch it to find that.
Exorcist III is incredibly underated. It’s a great film, they should’ve just let them call it “Legion” as was originally planned because the “III” seems to give it a bad rap since II is so god awful. The wail from Scarecrow comes from one of the best (imo) scenes in the film, where the white cloaked figure suddenly emerges from the door and gets the nurse. This was a pretty popular flick to sample from, I believe there are Cop Shoot Cop, Delta 9 and Front Line Assembly songs that all have samples from it.
