thanks SKot and gila!,
finally got it

couldn’t ever get the torrent invites to work, must have all gotten used up quick.

Just saw it.

Now I wonder what would Al would do if…

Someone snuck this onto the screen they have, during their live shows during a performance…?

Or you busted this out in front of Al while watching tv with him…?

Good video. Shit it was the 80s… The guy sitting down with the shirt and tie kinda reminds me of Rieflin [laugh]

My computer is being retarded - standard “right click” isn’t working to download it…is this strictly a Quicktime video? Because I don’t use that. Any other way to D/L it, or no?

Wow! This video is much better than I expected! I thought it was going to be some cheaply made thing (since it was just for Wax Trax) but this is as good Revenge or any other early-80’s video. Much thanks guys!!!

Also, I just torrented it on demonoid (http://www.demonoid.com/torrents/details/283157) and I’ll also seed it on dime when bisquit puts it up there, too.

Outstanding.

Just to confirm the participants:

  1. John Davis is the first keyboardist we see in the video.
  2. Stevo on drums looking very “Prince” like
  3. Bob Roberts sitting on the couch with the twin babes
  4. One of the women on the couch is Bob’s girlfriend
  5. Al’s wardrobe was on loan from Judas Priest
  6. What fairground could this have been?

Looks like a high-quality download of the music video for “Revenge” is there as well. Wow. What a trip. Nice work Al and Stevo.

Alright, getting it from Demonoid now - thanks guys! I’ll be sure to seed for awhile, even though I’ve got about five other torrents going at the moment. And Dicecrusher - was that a joke about Judas Priest or what? I kind of suspect it wasn’t…and that scares me. If this is anything at all like the Revenge vid, I know I’ll love it - for some reason, I just can’t get enough of that one. Any idea of who the woman in Revenge was? It wouldn’t have been Patty, would it?

WOW! I’m impresssed. Thanks, guys, especially SkoT! This is a real treat for everyone on the board.

First of all, this is the best audio quality I’ve ever heard of SOM. Secondly, the video is not AS lame as I imagined it to be. I thought it’d be some super-shitty, super-low budget early 80’s vid ala “Cars” or “I Ran”. So what’s the story on the source/recording of this video? Was this thing actually aired back in the day?

Al looks like he’s rocking an early version of his militaristic Twitch-era wardrobe in this one. Interesting that he doesn’t look like a post-apocalyptic hybrid clone of Boy George & Kurt Harland like he does in the Revenge video. Other things I noticed: Stevo REALLY looks like Al in this video, just like on the WS sleeve duo photo.

to me he does look a bit gayish. with the eyeliner and all the movements, when he smokes and the way he sings it. =)

in the very beginning i thought that was actually al on the drumset there!

seriously though, i just can’t see why couldn’t they put it on tapes of wrath as hidden videos along with revenge. well, and maybe what about us and stainless steel providers. that would be neat…

Glad you guys like it! That video (and song) should have had a proper release as a single. wempathy, any idea why it didn’t happen?

As to the source, this was from a half-inch videotape compilation of videos sent out to a club by RockAmerica.

Thanks to bisquitodoom as well for turning me on to the song originally, or I might never have gone digging for the video.

THANKS FOR THE VIDEO…never heard the last part when Al says over and over.

I think it just got lost in the period when the band was ramping up to sign with Arista. Jim Nash and Wax Trax financed the recording and the video and when the band signed with Arista it had to be abandoned I suppose. I’m sure that Jim would have been willing to part with it for a fee, but Al was more interested in moving ahead at the time.

A couple of trivia points. The two women on the couch with Roberts were his girlfriend Cate, who is now his current wife of 21 years and Leah Missbach who is a successful photographer. I tried to track down a current picture of Leah but could only find her website.

The ‘state fair’ was really just one of those travelling carnivals. I think that it was shot in the far north side neighborhood of Rogers Park.

The ‘live’ scenes of the band were shot on stage at Metro and most if not all of the dancers were friends of the band at the time.

The drummer:

Ha ha! Word! Still, he could really pound those skins. Insert any “gay pirate” joke you like there, but I’m being serious…

anyone have an mp3 of same old madness?

I got ya, just pm me with your e-mail.

now we need REVENGE [angelic]
