Earlier today, the STONE SOUR and HELLYEAH drummer took to his social media to write: “Super excited to announce that I am officially back with my friends in MINISTRY. And can’t wait to hit the road with them coming up this October! See you all soon!” Mayorga previously played with MINISTRY from 2016 to 2017 and appeared on the “AmericaKKKant” album, which came out in March 2018.
Two months ago, MINISTRY’s previously announced spring dates were moved to October and November 2021 to allow additional time for COVID-19 restrictions to be lifted as the country nears towards more normalcy this fall. The new dates will kick off October 3 in Albuquerque and run through November 3 in Seattle, hitting all the previously announced markets except Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Missoula, Montana, which, unfortunately, have been canceled, and Baltimore, Maryland, which will be postponed for a later date. The Buffalo, New York show has moved to a new venue and previous ticket purchases will be honored. And an additional show date has been added for Charlotte, North Carolina. The tour’s special guests FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY remain on the lineup for this one-of-a-kind celebration alongside newly announced support act HELMET.
This special tour honors not only the 40th anniversary of MINISTRY in 2021 but also the 30th anniversary of revolutionary album The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, and will also include brand-new material from MINISTRY’s upcoming 15th studio album.
Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 protocols for visas, travel and vaccine distribution in Germany as well as immigration uncertainty, KMFDM will not be taking part in this tour.
When the rescheduled tour dates were announced in March, Jourgensen said: “With current COVID-19 restrictions, we are forced to again move our scheduled March/April 2021 U.S. tour to October/November 2021 and hoping normalcy returns by then. With vaccinations and better care happening, we all feel the fall is realistic. We can’t wait to get out there and play not only ‘The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste’ material for you all but some stuff off our new album as well. Stay safe and see you in the fall!”
He was also in AMEBIX which I like, but I’ve not checked Wiki or anything to see if that was for an actual length of time or he was in Amebix in the same sense that Monte Pittman was in Ministry…
And yeah, nothing turns me off faster than name-dropping Stone Sour and/or Hellyeah.
Haha!!! I just looked him up. He was way more a drummer for Amebix (played drums on 2 albums around 2010/2011) than he was a drummer for Hellyeah (apparently just performed in ONE show, a tribute to Vinnie Paul).
The more I read about this guy the more I’m already sick of his ass.
I know we got “Breathe” at least once in the last 5 years, but I can’t remember for certain if they did “Burning Inside” or not. Those two are clear candidates if they truly do want to celebrate the album with more emphasis than usual. I won’t at all be surprised, though, if it’s only “Thieves” and “So What” like Grumpy suggested.
Regardless, I got my ticket for Anaheim in October and I’m restless as Hell and ready to get radical again!
I saw them at that tour as well. We saw them at the Forum in LA and I don’t remember Burning Inside… I could be wrong though… It was kind of a short set since they were openers.
I went to that show in NYC. Phil was decent, Ministry actually functioned well as an opening act (they had to strip all the bullshit out of their set, and it made for a quick and pleasant little performance), and Primus kicked hard ass with that awesome instrumental Rush cover. Slayer sounded like an undifferentiated wall of noise (venue’s fault, not the band’s), so I went home early.
Yeah I actually enjoyed Phil’s set at the Asheville show, Ministry was having a good night and were on fire…Primus was as fun as usual and def loved the Rush cover(their upcoming tour they are playing all of Farewell to Kings)…Slayer were fucking great the night we saw them and the sound was killer…the clear headliners of the night even if they aren’t my favorite of the bands that played…
I want to see Primus cover that album, but my disability prevents me from going to GA shows at this point (I can tackle seating, but not standing up for long periods).
I saw Slayer about 18 months before the Madison Square Garden show, at Jones Beach, and yeah, they were fucking amazing. Their new shit wasn’t really so bad… I’m definitely going to miss them.
