Somewhere in the middle of watching the nine minute So What, I realized that I’m pretty much done with ministry. Just gross.

And being kind of a grammatical fascist, I was already wincing before Al got the song introduction out of the way: “we’re gonna do ONE last ONE!” What was wrong with just saying “one last song”? It’s like saying “hey, there’s three of those threes still left in the fridge,” or something.

Anyhoo I don’t think I’m ever going to like a version of that tune done by anyone other than Connelly as vocalist. Bell’s hollow, trying-too-hard roar adds nothing to the mix here; ‘So What’ was made for Chris’ venomous haranguing voice and that, as they say, is that…

Haha! I just watched the start of that one. It’s awesome! It sounds like he’s playing a guitar solo for a 60’s surf tune. It’s jarring as hell at first, but I kind of dig it’s weirdness.

I also enjoy how odd Al’s guitar sounds in that video, but I tend to appreciate any kind of novelty in a live version over simply recreating the studio version.
