robocop 2010

has anyone heard of this yet ? not alot of info out yet but it’s being firected by the guy who did requium for a dream and pi he claims that it’ss not a sequel or a remake but a complete reamaging i just hope they stick to some of the foundations created by the series (the suit/dark humour) what do you guy’s think?

Huh, if that dude is in charge of the remake it could be good. I hope he goes a straight out “art movie” approach towards the movie. RoboCop’s so weird it’d work pretty well in that context.

I’d Buy That For A Dollar [:)]

Yeah id say it could be interesting. Yer man Aronofsky has another pic at the moment (or coming out soon) called ‘The Wrestler’ featuring Mickey Rourke, it’s had good things said about it so far. Im not sure if he could handle an action oriented version so it would be more “art house” if it goes ahead. But what will probably happen is his financiers will pull the plug on him during production, it will be in limbo for a while then he’ll scrape together something with low funds… oh wait, that already happened.

Once Al isn’t drafted in to provide a song: ‘Show Me Your Wallet’.

Robocop is one of my favorite movies. (i disavow any knowledge of it’s sequels, although the 2nd on where that one robocop they’re trying to make blows it’s own head off is cool.)

i am horrified and ridiculously excited. here’s to hoping they’ll bring back one of the best lines in a movie ever: “Bitches leave!”

Didnt Frontline Assembly sample the shit out of RoboCop 2?

Its a no brainer that RoboCop (the first one) is the best. Its brutal, shows drug usage, and has Cyborgs YEA! it doesnt get better than that. SLAP IT HIGH!

Robocop samples are all over “Mindphaser”.

Yeah Robocop 2 & 3 were not shining moments in Frank Miller’s career. I watched 3 again awhile back for the first time since seeing it in the theater, and cringed. Altlanta as Detroit this time, with oddly enough some of the bouncers from the Masquerade as the punk goons.

Robocop disturbed me as a 7th grader. I saw it on HBO at a friends house at like 1 in the morning… oh, man everything about that movie made me sad… most noteably, the robot that guns down that old man at the beginning, next, when the bad guys throw their friend out of the back of the truck and crack a joke about how they are gonna kill him as the guy is pleading for his life. next, as the bad guys are shooting peter weller up and are totally laughing at his agony, and finally the worst one was one of the bad guys drives his car into the toxic waste bin and his skin starts to melt off of him until he is hit by that car and explodes…[:(] so sad, so very sad[:(]
The next time I stayed at my buddies, I ended up watching the Hitcher; at 1am, as well. God damn that was the house of depressing fucked up movies… I shouldn’t have watched them, I wasn’t 17 nor did I have a parent or guardian with me or at least I should’ve woken my friend up to make him watch it with me.[:(]

Grumpy, you want a real sad and disturbing movie? Watch KIDS or Bully. I only seen those movies once and it’s all I could handle.

Never saw Bully, Saw kids though and I can’t stand it but not for the reasons you probably think. I thought the story was lame and predictable the acting was sub par, and the parts that were supposed to “sad” were to freaking funny cause dialogue was to stupid!

You wanna messed up movie try “GUMMO” it’s by the same guy that did KIDS but it’s totally about trailer trash a pure exploitation film.

Robocop has always been cool with me for three reasons:

  1. Red fucking Forman!
  2. Big ass guns that somehow fire explosions
  3. That one scene in #2 where one of the prototype Robocops pulls off its own head, revealing a human skull and screeching like some fucked up monster. Saw that when I was about eight and laughed my ass off for God knows how many hours.

I might wanna keep this in mind.

I’ll never forget the sound of my ex-gf shrieking when Emil gets covered in nuclear waste, only to explode like a water balloon when Clarence hits him with the car.

I love Darren Aronofsky’s work on Pi. His take on it should be interesting.

The toxic waste scene was pretty freaky when I was a kid…

That was probably one of the most graphic and horrendous deaths in a major picture in the '80s. That poor guy who played Emil has no luck, first his character lost an arm to a helicopter blade in ER then later on in a different episode a second helicopter crashes on top of him.

I agree with Grmpy, Kids is pretty disturbing, but doesn’t hold a candle to the depravity that is Gummo. Bully is a hard watch, but is acted pretty well by everyone in the cast, and sticks close to the facts of the actual case. Larry Clark’s Ken Park does for suburban skate culture what Salo did for fascism and is another hard watch, but overall I like the cheese fest that is his remake of Teenage Caveman best.

Watch Bully. Kids is a stinker for several reasons, no doubt about that. But if you dug Gummo it is almost a MUST for you to go for Bully. A truly disturbing and hard hitting drama.

the end of the movie Happiness really bugged me when i saw it… It was my e days and i was really messed up and the whole thing just really bugged me out. I don’t want to give away what happens in case anybody wants to see it… but if you saw it you know

I saw Happiness at a free advance screening, it was a packed show. Everyone went into the theater joking and smiling. After the movie, you could have heard a pin drop as the people filed out. Definitely one of the most awkward theater-going experiences I’ve had!
