Rise Of Skywalker

“Snoke coulda had potential but I think ultimately he was just a plot device/vehicle to move the story to where they wanted it to go. I am still wondering though: was Snoke Palpatine in disguise, and if so, to serve what purpose? and if not where’d Snoke come from? just some poor alien life form Palpatine inhabited or puppeteered? It’d be cool to get the back story.”

(I put this in quotes because I’m too lazy to figure out how to do it right. Mea culpa.)

I think Snoke was a clone possessed by Palpatine. In the first scene, when Kylo goes to Exegol, we briefly see a large yellow tank with Snoke clones floating in it. Good enough answer for me. Although I would have given my eye-teeth for a simple throwaway explanation regarding Snoke: “Oh yeah, he was a Vader clone that didn’t fully develop.”

My problem with Palpatine was that we should have had clues in the earlier films as to his meddling. The lack of clues leads me to believe that JJ Abrams resurrected Palpatine out of… I dunno, desperation? It seemed like a desperate way of explaining the mysteries of the previous two movies.

I think you’re right on the money.

Yeah i saw that too. I thought that was the two halves of snoke where he was sliced in half. Coulda been more than one snoke though

Yeah youre right, fortunately though, i think it worked. But yeah the lack of clues or even mention of palpatine in the earlier films makes it a bit convenient. But still, i think it worked great.

Because technology is so abundant that its cheap. But building materials are hard to get when Its in competition with the government building a fleet of those planet sized star destroyers not to mention tie fighters and two death stars.

I think that if JJ had done all 3, there would’ve been better continuity. Rian Johnson just twiddled his thumbs too much with TLJ, putting in stuff that didn’t even matter like Space Vegas.

The only ones worth watching were the original trilogy. They’ve gotten much worse since. I’m not going to bother with Rise. I couldn’t get into the new crew - Rey etc… Not bad just not memorable or made me care about their outcome.

LK wrote Empire, The Force Awakens and Solo.

Well that explains why those movies are good.

Kathleen Kennedy’s biggest mistake with this series was not having a singular creative voice. Supposedly, JJ left a lot of thoughts and ideas of how it should carry on after TFA, but she obviously let RJ ignore all that.
