It’s been a couple of weeks already, but I just heard.
I enjoyed his odd/unique creations, I really liked his early work.
Im doing pretty good for my age, if I make it to 90,
I wonder what kind of shape ill be in.
Cheers Steve Ditko!

Always thought he was one of the most interesting comics creators, and that he always stuck to his beliefs. I’ve seen a lot of media reports dismiss it as Ayn Rand crap, but it always seemed much more complex than that. His Mr. A stories had harsh views, but definitely different than typical Rand stuff. And he certainly deserved to be able to whore himself out more than most, but he absolutely never did. Principled to the end.
There are some great Ditko stories out there, including a popular (possibly apocryphal) one that someone went over to his apartment and found him using original artwork as a cutting board, and that he had newly-drawn stories that he wouldn’t let anyone look at.
But I really appreciated Jim Shooter’s Ditko stories, when he ran his blog. He respected and somewhat revered Ditko, and I think understood him better than most. He had 3 or 4 pieces on his interactions with Ditko. Here’s the link if you’d like some reading - http://jimshooter.com/2011/11/ditko-at-valiant-and-defiant-part-1.html/. I think the one about Dark Dominion (a short-lived comic by Defiant) was my favorite - where Ditko decided he couldn’t drawn the story mid-project because it was “Platonic and he was Aristotelian”.
