And I guess RIP GWAR for that matter.

Wow, RIP Oderus.

dude this fucking sucks gwar was/is one of my favorite bands, i have been seeing them once or twice a year since high school. i got a chaos wheel tattoo on my arm when i was 19 because of them. this really hurts/ :frowning:

Just awful news…

This sucks hard. No GWAR without Dave. Damnit.

I wasn’t a huge GWAR fan like a lot of my friends, but this is tragic. Dude man was something else. Bummer.

That,s the thing about GWAR: it doesn’t matter if you are a fan or not…doesn’t matter if you like them or not…we are better off with GWAR on the planet…

The first time I saw them they ripped the skin off of Marilyn Manson and filet his ass…then they decapitated Sadam Hussain and then Oderus busted a nut all over the audience…what’s not to love…

Sad day for the Scumdogs of the Universe…

Very sad.
I clicked on the link with caution, expecting (HOPING) that it was referring to some stunt or gag that they or Dave was pulling.

They were amazing, and their shows were so much fun. You really can’t describe the experience to someone who hasn’t been.

Goodbye, Oderus! I am sad that I will not be bathed in the juice from your sacred Cuttlefish of Cthulu again . . .

Well a small piece of my childhood is now gone. My earliest memory of the band was going to my local record store and seeing Scumdogs of the Universe on cassette. I took a look at the cover and thought they were the greatest band on the planet without hearing a single song. And who could forget that getting into their concert was the main objective of the Beavis & Butthead video game! I ended up not really being into their music when I finally got around listening to them, but I definitely couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see them live on election day 2 years ago. It was also their first show in Sacramento in years. Definitely a sad loss for anyone who’s a fan of damn good live show.

Just awful news…

Maybe Oderus just followed Fred Phelps so that he could eternally torture him…

Puttin’ that cuttlefish to good use . . . .

I saw him recently on ICP Theater and he wasn’t allowed to let the cuttlefish dangle…he made a joke about having to wear the cod piece…god damn,I’m gonna miss that guy…

I had the pleasure of seeing GWAR while in Montreal. We didn’t go there to see GWAR specifically but were taking a break from a ski trip to NY. Anyway, we were walking down the street in front of some theater. I looked up, the marquee had “GWAR Tonight!” on it. We knew it was destiny that called and had no choice but to answer. Freaking awesome show. Had a great time.

Odds are pretty good I was at that show… Do you remember who opened for them? From the times I’ve seen them here… it was either at The Spectrum, Club Soda or the Telus Theatre…

Dave is gone — accidental heroin overdose.

Vocalist Randy Blythe of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD, who toured with GWAR in 2009, has posted the following message on Instagram:
"[url “http://instagram.com/p/ozRVMSosk3/#”]Here’s me with Dave Brockie and Brad Roberts of GWAR in 2006. Brad and I are still here, but Dave is gone — accidental heroin overdose, as many of you heard today. Not that it really matters, because dead is dead, but I don’t think Brockie was a stone-cold junkie when he died — he couldn’t have done all that he did if he was strung out. He partied hard at periods, but I think he was more of a drug dabbler. But there’s a lesson here — dabbling with drugs kills people dead every day, just like being fully addicted does.
"I am so fucking sick of my friends dying from alcohol and drugs. Really, really, tired of it. Some of them die slow in the throes of addiction and some of them die after just doing something stupid one night after a party. Some of them fuck around and fuck around and fuck around… ‘I’ll get sober one day…’ For most of them, that day comes for sure — when we put them in a casket.
"It’s better to be alive when you get sober.
“In [url “http://instagram.com/p/ozRVMSosk3/#”]this photo I was still drinking — I am a FULL-BLOWN ALCOHOLIC. When I drink, I do crazy, really ill stuff. But I am a sober man today. I LIVE FREE. I might die surfing in the ocean tomorrow, but I will go out doing what I love, not choking on my own vomit.
Besides that, I can just try and help others, so I’m writing this to YOU — YES, YOU — you, the one who can’t stop drinking and getting fired and pissing off your wife, you the one who steals pills from you friend’s medicine cabinet, you the one who is in a dark hole and wants to die and the only thing that fixes it for a little while is a drink or a drug. WAKE UP. GET HELP. STOP. PLEASE, I’M FUCKING BEGGING YOU. YOU CAN DO IT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET SOME HELP. If I can do it, ANYONE CAN, because I was a TOTAL WRECK for YEARS. Just get some help, goddamn it. And if you haven’t started, don’t. JUST DON’T. There is NOTHING cool about being an alcoholic, a drug addict, or dead. Trust me. For the love of God, just don’t start. Please.”

Fair play to Randy Blythe, that’s a nice statement. I’m not a fan, but he does seem to really care for his fans’ welfare. I’ve read a few of his pieces now and he comes across very well.

Agreed.

I HATE Lamb of God. Like seriously despise that horrible, horrible band. But based solely on this statement and the ones that he issued following the final resolution of the Czech fan-death incident he does seem to have a decent head screwed on his shoulders.

Yeah, i saw Lamb of God once, or some of their act at least, and it’s just not for me at all. I really didn’t like them. I was one of those people who thought it’d be justice if he went to prison for the death of that fan too. However, i changed my mind when i saw that he was obviously genuinely sorry for what had happened, and maybe assumed more responsibility for it than he should have. He seems like a decent guy, and for once i’m sorry for judging someone so harshly. They do fucking suck though [:)]
