Rickys Hand

well… Kind of OT…

One day when I went to our weekly practise with my band… the other bandmember told me… in swedish…
“hey, I have a song we’re gona do a cover of… Rickys Hand”

I responded
“Ministry?”

I honestly didn’t know it was a cover by/of? Fad Gadget.
So… it turned out that he had not heard the Ministry verision, and I have not heard the Fad Gadget original verision.
So when he makes the music it will be his interpretation of Fad Gadget while my singing will be more like Al Jourgensen:ish.
Will be fun.
Other covers we will do will be
Sham 69 - Borstal Breakout -> gona be more elecronic and in a Just One Fix tempo.
The Exploited - Beat the Bastard

wow, post a recording here when it will be done!!
(at least for rickys hand)

awesome!!! I’ve recently heard the fad gadget version myself, and it’s actually pretty similiar to the Ministry cover. It’s a great tune and I really need to check out more early Fad.

Maybe I’m inclined to it because I love all those rare tracks from the Twitch tour [:)]

i don’t like that ministry version… even the fad gadget version… that song sounds fucking dated. and yes, i guess ‘everyday is halloween’ does, but that song still has something really great about it… whereas i found myself laughing all the way thru rickys hand.
bring me new ministry any day.

funny… i wanted to do it the other way around…

paced like the ministry version but with toveyesque vocals…

we have come a bit on the way with Rickys Hand…

It’s not finished yet… but listenable… and you get the idea on how it will be.
I did the vocals home in my apartmet… that’s why they are so… timid… I don’t dare to fill my lungs… someone in the building might call the police [crazy]
We’ll probably record vocals next thursday…not today (feb 16) because my throat is all fucked upp… got the flu =/ and I got it realy bad [mad]

Good work! Better than Nuclear Gloom’s version of Isle of Man, by far.

it’s great! a bit of remixing… in the choruses drum are too dominant, esp. bass drum and these “hi hats” or whatever they’re called… too much noise because of that, then again dunno, maybe that was the idea. i like it because it sounds ‘guitarish’ but poppy. NICE!

Thanks =)

yeah… the mixing part is my fault… and my headphones might get a bit of that blame to =)
Sounds pretty good in my phones… but on my stereo it sounds… not so good hehe.
But then again, I’m new tho the mixing part when it comes to music.

gona post the complete verison when we get it done.

Love it <3

Good work. Sounds good on my crappy computer speakers, and that’s not easy.

Excellent job! Vocals turned out quite well. Please let us know when the full version is ready and available to download/listen.

Have you since had a chance to listen to any of the other classic Fad Gadget material? I’d nominate Collapsing New People, Lady Shave, Insecticide or King of the Flies. All of those are some of Frank’s “harder” songs both vocally & rhythmically.

My favorite FG song of all time, is actually, aside from Lady Shave, “4m”. It’s one of the best early 80’s electro-instrumentals ever. Far, far ahead of its time!

I like it! The only mixing issue I have on my speakers is, as previously mentioned, the hi-hat volume.

I was a big fan of the FG version of the track before I knew Ministry covered it, it and Lady Shave are my two favorite FG tracks, both total classics that picked up the torch right where The Normal dropped it off.

Good recording, great version P-non. I enjoyed it.

1002

we are getting there =)

I want to tone down the chorus on the vocals a bit… but I guess we have to wait and see who get’s the last word about that…me or the other ‘dieselkopf’

we also updated an old song the band did… before I was in it…called Godman.

here you go.
