What do you guys think about these cocksuckers?

and yet they posted a picture of the slain Theo Van Gogh and the addresses of Matt and Trey’s production companies in LA and NY. Hmmm… sounds like a threat to me…!

Fucking Jihadi pieces of shit… I mean I don’t want to sound like a redneck but I am so tired of this bullshit “we can’t criticize Islam or depict Muhammed for fear of violence” attitude, which is why I’m happy the South Park guys confronted this issue.

I know there are plenty of decent mainstream Muslims who I have no beef with, and I am even against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, but I’m beginning to agree with conservatives that these Jihadi motherfuckers are a cancer that should be wiped off the face of the earth. Apparently the Obama administration sees it that way too as they are killing Al Queda leaders left and right without any pretense to taking these guys to trial in international court.

I mean seriously, I know many Christians are fucked in the head, and the dark ages and the inquisition were no pick-nick, but as fucked up as todays Christians are do we see them stoning people to death for being homosexual or beheading their daughters or wives in an “honor killing” for pre-marital sexual indiscretions? No! That shit is pretty much exclusive to Muslim theocracies.

Again, I’m not a racist, pro-war redneck but as ugly as our capitalist consumer society is I’ll take it over stone-age fundamentalist culture any day, and more people need to stand up to this fundamentalist bullshit, especially the educated and free thinking Muslims who can reconcile their religion with basic rights such as free speech etc.

I’m not taking sides with any religion but it is important that everyone (or as many as possible) take the piss out of these assholes, consistently and thoroughly. They can’t kill us all. Maybe Void should write another song on the subject (but without the fat bird [cool])

How can Muslims or Christians or any other religion complain about discourse that goes against their beliefs on the grounds that it offends them when pretty much all of the shit they spew offends me? This is something I don’t get…

Behemoth’s Nergal is defending his case right now in Poland for offending religious sensibilities by burning a Bible on stage. Meanwhile, every single word I hear from all the stupid priests on TV or wherever is offensive to me. Should I sue them all for being morons?

Why? Because a US based group of extremists found a cartoon offensive, so you have to make it a point to insult their Prophet and the identity of 1.5+ billion people? Because there are Catholic priests out there who have molested young boys, we should make a mockery of every Catholic? Seems a rather harsh response.

I would rather sit down and see why there is such political divide amongst Muslims and the West. It’s not too hard to see. One doesn’t have to look past Chechnya, Bosnia, Palestine, Iraq, only to name a very few, to see why there is hostility towards the West. Look at Palestine! Daily their lands are being taken from them with just a slap on the wrist from Western leaders - I mean come on!

Majority of Muslims have humor; they watch the same things you watch on TV, they use the Internet, they listen to the same music (I grew up in the Middle East and that is where I started this very site), and a lot probably love South Park. I am not Arab but the many I know from growing up there and keeping in touch with them are leading good lives whether in NY, Bahrain or Dubai, etc. You may be shocked: a lot of Muslims I know regularly drink and womanize and what not.

I don’t support the reactions brought out by these group of people. They are causing further divide. All Muslims want to do is just like any other immigrant families here in the West: provide for their families and live a normal life. The actions of a minute, minute percentage of Muslims should not cause such a ripple in relations. After all, in Iran, they used to openly show pictures of the Prophet and may still do. Oh, and yes, pork was also consumed there.

The crucial mistake not to make is to judge someone just because they are of a certain religion. There are many Muslims, Christians, Jews etc. who don’t give a shit about their religion (or are at least passive about it). You can flame away (as I do) at the fundies of every religion, because they are complete assholes who have nothing better to do than waste their lives (and the lives of others) on annoying and boring fairy tales. But I do think anyone should be allowed to take the piss out of any religion. It shouldn’t be off limits. You can do so by not making it personal, ie. targeting the believers as opposed to targeting what they believe in. If believers then take it up with you with all this “you’re insulting my religion”… well, pity about them. As Jupitreas has alluded to, non-believers can turn the insult argument back on the religious and say what they believe or say insults their intelligence. And as long as there are theocracies and religious institutions running public services we should stand up to them and take the piss out of them at every turn, because they shouldn’t have such control.

Also, I might be wrong, but if you are Muslim you can’t just leave the religion? Someone told me this before, that if you become a Muslim you’re in it for life, ie. they won’t let you leave. Can anyone verify this? If this was the case, then think of the Muslims who have had no choice in the matter and don’t really care for it yet could be targeted as “one of them” (an extremist, misogynist, etc.) I was baptised Catholic when I was maybe three or four months old. I’ve hated the religion since I was a teen and officially left the church not too long ago when I found out I could. I also wonder about Catholics who give out about the child abuse scandals yet don’t leave the church. They can still believe what they believe outside of the church. By staying in it they are condoning the actions of the church with the mass cover up and what not. They need to seriously get real.

I have searched for info on Pershing’s record in Philippines too and could find nothing that backed up the story mentioned in that piece. It’s more a myth espousing extreme discipline, which is ironic but it does need acknowledgement that moderation does not work with the fundies. They have a totalitarian agenda and they bring the good v. evil dichotomy on themselves.

My problem with it isn’t necessarily with the muslims, but all of the insane muslims that we allow to intimidate us. They were doing no harm or foul and got threatened and censored. They just wanted to put the message across that “time has passed, get over it”. A few nuts have a fit and get to push us around, and successfully do so. Why let these idiots win? It’s a pretty sad day when we actually give into terrorism.

What I said about insulting Islam could easily be taken as crass and hostile, but the point I was trying to make is that if everyone has insulted Islam, then the crazy fundamentalists who will have to issue fatwa’s on all of us, not just the Salman Rushdies and South Park guys, and as Mick said, they can’t kill us all can they? I was saying it to make a point of solidarity. I suppose the fundamentalists see us all as infidels anyway and more or less have called for the death of all westerners.

I agree that the west is certainly culpable in a lot of the problems in the middle east, mainly by supporting Israel no matter what atrocities they commit. Also look at the case of how the US destroyed the Iranian democracy and installed the Shah. Bad foreign policy and poverty certainly provide fertile soil for the breeding of fundamentalism.

So yes, I know there are decent Muslims who are for secular govt and enjoy wine, women and song and are basically good people, and I acknowledge that the west is partially to blame for fundamentalism, but the bottom line is that in a supposedly free speech oriented society where the promotion and exchange of ideas is encouraged there is NOTHING that should be off limits, and we as a society should not be made to live in fear of expressing our thoughts or opinions for fear that some desperate religious nut will commit atrocious homicidal acts under the misguided notion he is getting a one-way ticket to heaven where he will meet his 72 virgins (or whatever hogwash they believe).

I am quite frankly, fed up with all religion, especially the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam), all of which are sexist, barbaric and promote violence or some kind of “cleansing” of non believers. Sometimes I wish someone would just nuke the holy land and the Vatican city to oblivion, but I know that isn’t really the answer…

So sorry if I offended you, Afra or anyone else, like I say I am not a racist xenophobe, but let us call a spade a spade. When I see a television show that is making fun of all religions equally but censors only the material that would offend Muslims, something isn’t right with that, and I take it as an attack on MY secular western culture, and I’m gonna call bullshit on it.

gotta agree with you there dastardly! Although I place more blame at the feet of comedy central than the extremist.

The muslim’s are perfectly within their rights to be pissed and make demands but comedy central or anybody else NOT affiliated with Islam is in no way obligated to bow/buckle to any of their demands. We’re not Muslim, why are we following that shit?
