RevCo release pushed back to 3.7.06

REVOLTING COCKS, the side project of MINISTRY mainman Al Jourgensen, have pushed back the release date of their new album, “Cocked and Loaded”, to March 7, 2006 from the previously announced February 14. Produced by Al Jourgensen, the CD features the contributions of guest artists Jello Biafra (DEAD KENNEDYS), Gibby Haynes (BUTTHOLE SURFERS), Rick Nielsen (CHEAP TRICK), Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP), Stevie Banch (SPYDER BABY) and Phildo Owen (SKATENIGS) and Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK). The first REVOLTING COCKS record in more than a decade, “Cocked and Loadded” is being released through Jourgensen’s new imprint 13th Planet/Megaforce Records. “It’s pretty prurient and juvenile and everything else that REVOLTING COCKS are known for,” Jourgensen told [url “http://www.rollingstone.com/”]RollingStone.com. “It’s basically middle-aged men regaining their lost, juvenile delinquency years and being absolutely sophomoric. It’s great.”

REVOLTING COCKS will hit the road May 5, opening for Jourgensen’s other band MINISTRY, who release a new studio album, “Rio Grand Blood”, in April. The album, titled after ZZ TOP’s 1972 album “Rio Grande Mud”, takes aim at Bush America.

“We kind of have this administration that’s just a little bit arrogant and very transparent, as far as their agenda,” Jourgensen told RollingStone.com. “This little war going on overseas, the little Iraq thing, that’s kind of got my goat, too. The arrogance of the right has just got me. All these wimpy liberals — good for Howard Dean, screaming into a mike, showing them the left isn’t all about granola and alfalfa sprouts!”

On the subject of his collaboration with Tommy Victor (ex-PRONG) and Paul Raven (ex-PRONG and KILLING JOKE) on the new MINISTRY album, Jourgensen said, “The most fruitful collaboration I’ve ever done in my life has been this record. The three of us used to be competition, between PRONG, MINISTRY and KILLING JOKE, and now that we’ve kind of joined forces — shit! We should have done this twenty years ago.”

As for what MINISTRY will sound like live? “This is the fastest, hardest, most maniacal record I’ve ever done.”

Heard that before…

Release date delays - gotta love 'em. I just know those CDs are collecting dust on a shelf right now. There goes my Valentine’s Day gift!

Hasn’t Al honestly trumpeted everything since Psalm 69 as the “hardest, most maniacal record I’ve ever done”?
He’s certainly said that about everything in the post DSOTS period!
I don’t have high hopes for this album BUT…you never know. I’ll reserve judgement until I hear the finished product.

As far as REVCO; I’m worried there aren’t enough “electronic/industrial” types on this album…it seems like a harder rocking bunch of “older gentlemen” he’s assembled this time around.

Actually, I have the promotional press release for DSOTS, and he admitted prior to that release that it wasn’t as “hard” as FP. He actually even seemed kind of embarassed by it, since skinny had more input in it than he probably should have. All he really mentions is that “Supermanic Soul” is very heavy, and that the riff for “Bad Blood” was created during TMIATTT tour. He doesn’t say anything about the rest of the tracks, and doesn’t even really try to hype it up. It was a Warner generated press release, and that was the best they could get out of Al! And rightfully so, that album is crap.

As far as this goes, I can’t wait! All you synth-loving dorks, wipe your noses and stay clear.

better have dsots with input from skinny than drunken ‘bush bashing’ houses of the mole.

Bummer that Cocked and Loaded got bumped back. Though I too am wondering how it will be. Not expecting much from it really, be a fun listen, but not going to change the face of music. Still an interesting cast of characters to bring life. With Jello and Gibby can’t be all bad.

Oh boy. More arguments over Al and Paul. Yippie. Can I join in too?

I could care less about all that jive. Paul did some good work for Ministry while he was in the group. Al did things before Paul came along that we seem to enjoy, but afterwards things have changed. Gone is Paul’s experimentation, which is a bummer. At the same time though, don’t think there was much else Al and Paul could have done to push the envelope. Could have tried to sound like Sunn O))), or Mr. Bungle’s Disco Volante or any other number of things, but they’d have been behind the times then. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Al’s going to retire soon. Take the current stuff or leave it. You’ll always have the classics, and the modern stuff won’t change that at all.

Though I can understand where it seems Al’s dragging the band name into the mud a bit, but not quite as bad as Jerry Only has with The Misfits. Of course, it’s Al’s band to do with as he wishes!

Besides, Ministry’s always has had plenty of political / social critiquing. Just back then the lyrics seemed to have some wit to them as opposed to being more blatant nowdays. Part of the changing times I suppose. Al did half the stuff he did back then, most kids nowdays would be scratching their heads trying to decipher what he meant.

Like the new RevCo, not expecting this to be a life or music altering Ministry album, but will give it a chance and try and enjoy it for what it is.

but not quite as bad as Jerry Only has with The Misfits.

yea, but misfits with michael graves on vox were good to my taste (but half of the 1998 famous monsters album sucked balls anyway), but jerry on vox and bass with some two dudes touring for 25th anniversary… ew.

Well Caliente was a good introduction. I have a feeling tho’ that the rest of the album won’t be as good. Although I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Uh…didn’t see that coming.

And so you feel the irresistable urge to sing about it? Could this mean lack of material? Inspiration?

"This little war going on overseas, the little Iraq thing, that’s kind of got my goat, too. The arrogance of the right has just got me.

So, does that mean that Al is opening for himself? Why not just nix the “opening act” and just play three hours of Ministry, Revco, Lard, PtP, etc.? And he’s going to need a horn section for “Cold Life 2006”.

opening for himself…better have Jolt in hand…lol

Dude go to the Iron Maiden forum and never come back, please.

This new record is sounding worse and worse.

Just another impotent and irrelevant thrash CD.

faster, harder, more derivative than anything before it!!!

Honestly, all anyone has heard is The Great Satan, and now you’ve got the whole album figured out? I’d wait for the whole release. Who knows, it could be your favorite Ministry album. Don’t be so presumptuous.

So.
Who wants to bet on when the album’s REALLY going to come out?
