Pretty interesting interview. Ozzy being interviewed by his son.
More clips of the album to be heard here and there.

7+ minute songs sound promising…
I hate when tickets go on sale 5 months in advance.
I never heard Sabbath post-Ozzy. Crazy I guess? Any recommendations?
BTW I can get into cheesy metal. Grim Reaper comes to mind. So, anything in that vein I can stomach.
Heaven and Hell
The Mob Rules
Dehumanizer
Born Again
All essential…

Here you go:
1980 Heaven and Hell
1981 Mob Rules
1983 Born Again
1986 Seventh Star (hit & miss)
1987 The Eternal Idol (hit & miss)
1992 Dehumanizer
And Heaven & Hell too.
Haha! So just go chronologically I guess. That’s cool. Will look into it.
I like “Forbidden” . . . . but it’s almost universally despised.
If you go post-Ozzy (and really, you only need to do this after you’ve got ALL the Ozzy discs) . . . I’d recommend . . .
Everything else can get a bit dicey, so you should probably chat us up or at least listen to some samples on YouTube before throwing $15 away only to hear Glenn Hughes and a bunch of old wankers singing pussified love songs or something.
Also, if you are an Ozzy fan stay far away from LIVE EVIL. Dio is awesome, God rest his little Hobbit soul, but when he tries to do the Ozzy tracks he rapes them in a most unlistenable manner.
Good lord man, I’m no sadist. I usually always buy used, so I expect the later stuff to come cheap. TYR sounds awful from what I have heard of it.
Whatever you do,don’t let anyone talk you out of Born Again(they will try)…it’s one of the best albums in metal history…yeah the engineering is shit and it has a Spinal Tap aspect but the upsides are so intense…some of Iommi’s fiercest riffs and solo’s and Geezer and Ward are off the charts…Gillan wails like a Banshee and it’s just great…yeah so there are some dumb lyrics…trust me,you won’t care…worth it for Disturbing the Priest alone…alll the rest is just bonus…
Post Ozzy…in order of greatness:
Ignore the rest.

Bad Advice…
Also.listing Heaven and Hell without listing Mob Rules makes no sense…they are essentially formatted exactly the same and the songs are just as excellent…
Neon Nights=Turn up the Night
Heaven and Hell=Sign of the Souhtern Cross
Lonely is the Word=Over and over
and so on…
Really the only difference is that Ward drums on one and Appice the other…
get them both and then get Born Again and you will be set…
I know I’ve said this before… but Heaven and Hell (the band), was the only live show I have ever walked out on.
To be fair, Down opened for them and blew them away… but as a Sabbath (Ozzy) fan, I just couldn’t do it.
Although, I did see Dio on his own when he opened for Iron Maiden, and he was quite good.
When i saw H&H they were excellent…I had a blast and it was great to hear those old classics played…no Down opening though…it was Alic Cooper(fun) and Queensryche(awful)…
Saw Heaven & Hell on their 2007 trek with Megadeth. Went with my buddy and his dad - old enough to have seen Sabbath in their heyday. I think he and many of the crowd were expecting a Live Evil style run through the catalog. When it became apparent this was Dio’s party it didn’t really seem to matter. His voice was in top form and hearing some of those songs live was great. I remember there being some extended sections that allowed Iommi to go into solos that didn’t meander one bit. Geezer held it down. Vinny Appice was the weakest link. His fills sounded clumsy. All in all the band seemed very enthusiastic to play both old and new alike.
Six years later with death, failing health, money disputes and other hiccups I’ve got my doubts that they’ll be able to deliver the same conviction on stage. Ozzy will either slop up the performances in a really distracting way or whoever is selected as drummer won’t compliment Iommi and Geezer. I’ve got a good feeling the album will deliver the goods yet be mostly the product of studio perfection and they’ll touch very little of it for their setlist. I can’t imagine Sabbath having the tenacity to do more than the Reunion set with maybe whatever song is picked as single.
Whatever you do,don’t let anyone talk you out of Born Again(they will try).
The aforementioned engineering really goes a long way in making it unlistenable for people, which is a huge shame. It’s second tier Sabbath for me. With all the praise that goes to Tony’s ingenuity with “the riff” no one mentions Zero the Hero containing one of his most memorable and influential ones! Most days I’ll take Born Again over the last two Ozzy records and always above the reheated set of Mob Rules.
