they came, they saw and they were brutally funny. And I couldn’t take my eyes off of TKK’s bass player. She ruled their set.
All great energy. I think it would not happen again. In this configuration anyway.
I was so in lust with TKK’s bass player! Hot Asian chick playing bass (good chills)…love it, I did get her on video.
Perviness aside, it was a dream weekend, something that used to be a pipe dream in high school (“imagine all the Wax/Nettwerk bands playing a festival”). To actually be in the city where Wax Trax thrived, meet musicians who, for the most part, I’d only seen inside of CD sleeves, music videos, AP articles, to FINALLY see a legitimate version of RevCo (Phoenix got screwed out of the BSQ tour thanks to bogus local promoters), so see these bands more than once in a single weekend, dance and drink at Neo, have non-fanboy conversations with Paul, Richard, Luc, etc., and be able to soak in the whole experience with new and old fans…it was very special.
To me, it was a musical pilgrimage, seriously… this music was a big part of my adolescence and a major influence in keeping me involved in writing/performing music after graduating high school. It wasn’t Pankow or Ajax or TGT that affected me, it was the whole experience of growing up with this label, ordering vinyl and shirts from the mail order insert, buying anything at Zia Records with a Wax Trax label on it, leaving messages on the WT office’s answering machine about how I was forming the next great Wax Trax band (yeah, silly), feeling like I was listening to music more special than what the majority of my fellow classmates were absorbing from the radio and MTV. I remember having a certain cockiness for listening to Wax Trax, Nettwerk, PIAS, Antler/Subway, RRE, Dossier, all of those labels. I really felt lucky getting to hear all of these bands back in the day (good or bad!).
I have not come down from this trip yet, though I’ve been ravaged by a congestive cold all fucking week. Work was insane when I went back on Tuesday, so this weekend is really my first chance to recover and relax.

TKK’s bass player was sexy but when the black backing singer came out, all eyes on her (and all cameras).
Lads will be lads.

well said.

Was it Jacky Blacque or an impostor. Couldn’t get a good shot of her from the youtube clips.
Of course it was Ms. Jackie, with the gap toothular grin. She looks exactly the same. Few in the mix of things did at the rockshows this past weekend… The tiff between me and Jackie was during a pre- tour barbeque at Frankie’s house on Damen, in the backyard. With about fifty peeps in attendance. nothing bad, just odd.
And it was over something racist? Pretty lame. I would think that a woman involved in a band that makes the kind of music that TKK makes wouldn’t be concerned with such affairs. Politics aside I think she’s pretty hot. Haha, me and my attraction to black women
Btw, the hot asian bass player is named Mimi Star
I gotta say I think the quality of a TKK show largely depends on whether or not they 1) have a live drummer and 2) play their classic evil shit that everyone loves.
I saw TKK on my 18th Birthday @ the Metro back in 97 and they kicked ass… had a live drummer, Levi on bass, geetar player, Cinderella Pussy (that woman just commanded so much stage presence… brilliant…hear she works for the chamber of commerce or something in Oak Park). It was the tour for “A Crime for All Seasons”, their last truly great record, IMO. A truly crazy and debaucherous event
Saw them a couple years later with just two synths and some sequenced drums, some of which they actually did live which was pretty cool (they had a setup with some electronic snares and some electronic drum pads), but it just wasn’t the same… and the bomb gang girl that was showcased just didn’t have the talent that I had seen a few years before… No guitars… at the fucking House of Blues (fuck that place!) Just lost a lot of its edge…
I’ve avoided TKK shows since then cause I don’t really care for their new shit and it seemed they maybe kinda lost it since I hadn’t heard a positive review in years…
But at the Retrospectacle they sounded fucking great… Frankie looked and sounded like the natural-born rock-star I remembered from my youth. I guess there was just a special feeling in the air that night.
After seeing the photos of everyone I realised how ancient all those guys are now. Richard 23 & Chris Connolly in particular look about 65yrs old now? I’m sure they were just young bucks a few years back?
The clock’s ticking.
For Chris, I think he still looks ok.
Maybe it’s due to the handlebar moustache (plus that shaven head) he’s sporting that nite, kinda gives him that 65-ish yr old look lmao. [:P]

Tick tick tock, this is the way they walk. Tick tick tock, this is their life. Trying so hard to be approachable, they are nice guys underneath it all.

Exactly! Thats why PB needs to quit fucking with this cock shiat and pull out some Richard Devine/ Cortini shiat! Andale andale…the clock is ticking!
dumbphuck, I don’t know who you are, but I can guess.
Mi Esposo only works with quality people, and when the time is right. Chew on that one. And BTW, feel free to pass it on.
TKK is in my town in 2 weeks… maybe I will go. I’m still ticking.
Find out if they’ll have a live drummer or not… seriously it makes all the difference in the world for that band.
Their LA date still has tba on it for the venue. I hope I find out soon

I dunno, Paul has been returning to Chicago with some regularity these past few years… TKK still live in the city… [/reply]
I’m 100% positive both Frankie & Marston live in LA, re:TKK.
It said they’re from LA on their reverbnation thing when I looked up tour dates. I almost don’t wanna make the trip to LA anymore now that I know where they’re playing. It’s some total goth bar called Bar Sinister. I don’t wanna be around a bunch of snooty goths.
Marston has lived in Echo Park forever. Nice little house. Frank? Not sure. He’s moved around a bit.
I thought i’d just post this in for you as a follow up answer.
All the RevCo samples are gone! They were taken from the original CD’s and remastered and sampled again. Jamie from Acuman who was the guitarist (and a good friend of my friend) he told me he spent a good solid 2 weeks making them right. It was a dream come true for him to play on stage. He was sooo drunk that night on the 17th. We hung at the green room for a few minutes after the show with Jamie and then went upstairs for the meet and greet.
My friend has a ton of photos off his iphone 4 but, I have not gotten them all yet. I also recorded the whole show from the front row but, Android phones suck for recording. So all I hear is garbage.
Before the 17th show, we had lunch over at Wrigleyville Dogs across the street and about 6PM walked over to be the 4th in line. Front row was great! Barker and his wife come walking alone and said hello to us. Very cool laid back guy.
I do love the fact during Beers/steers Luc Van Acker throws the mic into my mouth while singing for phrases. You can see this on a youtube video.
Anyway, this is my first post here and i’ll see over time what I can put up for all.
