Rerelease

Found a couple sort of related rereleases that I didn’t even realized happened:

Shredder Orpheus Soundtrack: https://www.discogs.com/Roland-Barker-Shredder-Orpheus-Music-From-The-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack/release/6292956 - The soundtrack for what looks to be a really cheesy movie. But the music’s by Roland Barker and there’s a track with vocals by Bill Rieflin. I’m sort of embarrased that I never knew about this, since it was originally released in 1989. I thought it would be ambient soundtrack stuff, but most of this is actual music with many being pretty good. The BR song is definitely the highlight.

The Drowning Craze Singles Compilation https://www.discogs.com/The-Drowning-Craze-Singles-81-82/release/12160424 - Many years ago, I tracked down the 7"s from this group with Groovie Mann on vocals. I guess it was inevitable that they’d eventually see release. Nice to have them in one place and sounding a little better. Just wish they’d do the same with Special Affect.

Anyone else find anything that’s seen release in the past few years that might have gone under the radar?

Thanks for posting…I’ll listen to anything with Bill Reiflin on it(well, except for REM)…

Very cool!

The Drowning Craze comp is on streaming/digital, but is missing the John Peel bonus tracks. Might have to look into those separately.

Never heard of Shredder Orphus, but here’s a clip of Bill playing drums for the fake band in the film.

Rock bands like this only ever existed in '80s movies.

EDIT: the bassline to this clip bears an uncanny resemblance to Stainless Steel Providers

Holy fucking shite,that was wonderful…

There is some parody hair metal band touring and coming to town sometime in the future. I don’t remember the name of the band but it sounds funny in principle. I might check them out.

Steel Panther?

Steel Panther is fantastic. Been a fan since they were Metal Shop.

I saw them open for Priest…they are funny…its a good time show
