remix madness

boredom plus the internet usually leads to foolish questions… so here’s one. If you could remix one album from the past, which would it be?

‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’

when you think about any record, favorites come up. but they’re favorites because they’re so good. sure, it would be awesome to remix raw power, but why? then there’s the remix waiting to happen since release-what’s goin’ on, marvin gaye, two songs extended and the rest filler and remix remix possibilities all over the place.
happy holidays.
man.

Cyndi Lauper - She’s So Unusual

‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’

Ooh, good call.
But I’m going to go with an album could actually use some work. I’d like to see if I could remix “With Sympathy” and make it sound a little less “lavender,” if you know what I mean.

Every remix/rework/re-interpretation of WS-era material I’ve ever heard was far, far, far shittier & lamer than the original versions from Al & co.

Think “Another Price in the Wall”, “Wish You Were Queer” and all of those other half-arsed “tribute” projects. And someone posted a link here a year or so ago to some Euro disco-pop tramp who borrowed heavily from the lyrics of “Revenge” on one of her songs.

I don’t want to see WS remade or even remixed…just remastered and reissued with as many demo versioins, outtakes, and unreleased gems as Al can possibly dig up out of his vaults!

I’d really like to see Psalm 69 and TMITTTT get an overhaul, if anything just to cut the Treble levels down and bring in some bass. Man if those two albums were mixed anywhere near FP or DSOTS Levels (and DSOTS is far more low end heavy than FP)I think those CD’s would really kick.

Revenge is fine like it is. The rest of the songs need more than remixing to be good. However, I did like that one song “Transcendental” or whatever it was called that was actually a song that a song on With Sympathy was based on. If there is more stuff like that I would like to hear it.

?
Are you talking about Primental? That was an instrumental of I Wanted To Tell Her.

Also, part of the reason covers of WS material fail is because the bands tend to treat the songs like jokes. I think they’re all (well, almost all) good songs. Some of them could just use a tiny bit more edge.
