i just had my ministry tracks on random and it started playing “the land of rape and honey” and i noticed it was much louder and clearer than usual (i listen to LORAH religiously). i realized it was the greatest fits cd (which i never lisen to). anyone else notice?
instead of putting out these shitty remix cds, al should reissue remastered copies of his work!@
Well there is a remastered version of LORAH out there. It has the title track listed as The Land Of Milk And Honey lol. Its about the same quality as the two trax from the album that appeared on Greatest Fits. Golden Dawn sounds fucking amazing as does Flashback. And Al should remaster everything up to Filth Pig

Seriously? Fuck, I didn’t know this. I would ejaculate if I heard a rematered version of Golden Dawn. It’s one of my favourite Ministry songs.
To clarify, there isn’t an ‘official’ remastered version of LORAH. You can usually go to a site like Musicstack and find those LP+CDR “remastered audiophile CDs”, which usually cost $75-100 for a copy. Otherwise, any new copies out there are just old stock (a lot of WEA/Canada copies surfaced in recent years). Wounded Bird was selling re-issed LORAH CDs for a while (with the mis-typed title track), but they may have run out of stock (no longer listed). The Wounded Bird release is NOT remastered in any way.
The Greatest Fits CD is louder, and is probably properly remastered due to having access to the masters, but with the whole ‘loudness war’ thing argument who knows for sure how clear and crisp it is without losing the original touches…
Honestly, we could debate this all day.
And no, there is no re-released LORAH with better sound, unless it is fan-made.
The Wounded Bird reissue is the one I’m referring to and while it may not be properly remastered it does sound louder. I’ve compared the two myself and it is a little clearer and as loud as the remasters on Fits. Al should do a proper remaster/reissue though
Well, a “clearer and louder” sound can be achieved with a simple limiter. Perhaps thats what they did; however, if they just ran the original CD through a limiter, the results most likely are actually of lower sound quality but by being louder seem to be better. Instead, simply playing the original at a higher volume (thats what that knob is for) will sound better.
I listened to LORAH on the way in to work this morning, and really don’t hear anything that needs to be retouched. My only minor observation is that Paul’s bass could have been a bit louder…and maybe the whole album could have a little more on the low end, otherwise it’s a well-mixed album. One of these days I’ll play around with the .wav files in Audition (including a couple of Twitch songs) and see how much I can royally screw them up.

True.[/reply]
definitely not. i love listening to music at a high volume, especially ministry, and when i blast their earlier albums i definitely notice a lack in quality/clarity.
It’s going to happen, all of the albums will eventually get remastered. The version of TLORAH on Greatest Fits is noticeably different from the original, those kicks and snares are awesome.
