Thanks Mick. I just started listening to it…needs a few more spins before I give a solid review on it. Track 1, “Please Take” is a total nod back to the Bell Is A Cup album. In fact, after one spin, half of the album sounds like ‘phase 2’ Wire, and the other half is more in line with their recent output. I’ll be spinning it a lot this weekend, it sounds great so far (even better than Object 47, which I enjoyed).

First exposure to Wire, late period, but amazing, was their SEND album.
Last album ruled, too.

Yeah, this album is the best they’ve recorded since '88, just let it play in a loop on the patio tonight while I knocked down two bottles of Chimay blue with a friend. Even the weak songs are good! An album like this gives me hope that if they tour, they’ll start breaking out the Phase 2 material. It’s good to hear them writing more distinct melodies. It’s not the Belgian brews talking, I swear! This is some refreshing new material by Wire.

They’ve brought back the atmospherics that were largely missing from Object 47 but are following the same lines of fairly simple rock music with hooks and catchy lyrics.
A fine album by a great band.
Planning to catch them in April in D.C.
Might…get this. Been listening to Chairs Missing a bit recently. Always up for more Wire.
