Everyone needs to band together and recommend at least 5 albums that he MUST hear ASAP.
It must be albums that he cannot live without.
I will start by recommending:
Der Blutharsch - When All Else Fails
NON - God And Beast
Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer
Scott Walker - The Drift
Lotus Eaters - Mind Control For Infants
Sun City Girls - Midnight Cowboys From Ipanema
Grouper - Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill
Melvins - Honky

[:)] Excellent! this actually got a pretty loud chuckle out of me!
I appreciate it but I’m not currently making enough to be able go buy CDs on recommendations (let alone CDs period) maybe we should put this thread on hold, egh? although, That burning witch CD is a cool title and band name. same with “mind control…” and the “dead deer” one. the only one I’ve heard of is the Melvins. Are the other ones actual music or just noise-scapes like endless summer?

Burning Witch is doom. a couple of Sunn-0))) related folk in an earlier band. great screamy vocals over slo-mo riffs. My first couple listens didn’t blow me away but it really grew on me after 2-3 spins.
Are these guys for real? (Listened to Still Born, country doctor, and sacred predictions On youtube) The only reason I ask is because They really seem to have perfected the sound of dread. The music definitely has a decaying feel to it. They certainly create the “You Should Kill Yourself” Atmosphere very well. Do they really like to feel doom? how come they haven’t killed themselves yet? are they waiting for all of us to kill ourselves first? What kind of nightmares do they have? I wonder if Unicorns and puppies are constantly on their mind and this is their way of coping with it
I dig the sound and the guy’s voice but not together, Together they just sound like campy 80’s flick heavy metal band. You know any of those movies where the stupid Satan kids open up a portal to hell by playing the heavy metal album backwards and then saying the special words and then can’t get the gate closed back up? Well this is that band that they use for the record to play backwards.
Peligro in his First offering… Ooh a swing and a miss! Give me this but with out that guy singing! Who could listen to that on a daily basis? the guy sounds like a burning witch! in a different setting he would be ok (although I couldn’t tell you what that setting would be right now) but the two together just sound like a knock knock joke at halloween.
Lotus Eaters
Just checked out Lotus eaters on youtube (Well this guy reviewing it) I definitely like what I heard. This jack ass talked over it with his review, but if the whole album is like what was playing while he was talking I’ll probably pick this up the next Time I’m at Amoeba. Very atmospheric with lots of low tones
Well done Peligro Base hit!
Grouper
Listened to the title track first, not bad, pretty good. listened to, I’d rather be sleeping, after that! LOVE IT. Sounds like the companion to Jesu’s Silver!
2 out of 3 so far, Peligro! Certainly a getter the next time I have some Music $$.
Probably check out more of the list tomorrow it’s rather late here.

My girlfriend was dj-ing at a small indie club/bar/chill out room a few months back and she decided to play a few tracks off this album - apparently everyone stopped what they were doing and listened in awestruck silence. She said the sight was ‘freaky’.
Afterwards she had about a dozen e’d out clubber hipsters come up to her and ask her what that ‘dreamy indie music’ was that she was playing and where they could buy a copy.
Now I can’t listen to that album without picturing a room full of blissed out clubbers staring into space with tears in their eyes.
