Saw AC/DC the other night. Absolutely brilliant. Easily one of the best (if not the best) rock concerts I’ve seen. These guys must be at least in their 50s and played better than many younger bands I’ve seen.

Angus Young has to be one of the greatest figures in rock history. The guy was mental for 2 hours+, never calmed down. Towards the end he ran out onto a platform in the middle of the crowd and played a crazy solo for about 15 mins in the rain. It was such a fantastic spectacle.

I’m not the biggest AC/DC fan around and I couldn’t distinguish some songs from others but it didn’t matter. The sound was huge and never faltered. The stage was massive with a train as a prop at the back (and where an inflateable “Rosie” straddled it during one of their songs, which encouraged a girl in the audience to get her tits out which we all could enjoy on the cool screens.) They fired canons and had cool fireworks at the end too.

These guys put bands like Metallica and U2 to shame. The only other concert I enjoyed as much was Ministry in '03 but thats because Ministry were my favoite band at the time.

It will be very hard to beat the ultimate performance that was AC/DC… I’m looking at you Perry and Trent in a couple of weeks.

I got dragged to a concert lastnight with my girlfriend and her friends.

The band was White Denim (terrible name) and I must say they were pretty fucking hot to trot. Defintely in fine style. They’re a garage rock band if you’re interested and below is the myspace…

saw faith no more’s first gig in 11 years a couple of weeks back at brixton academy - they were fucking great. they had selfish cunt supporting (not bad, but they seemed to piss off a lot of people for some reason). then i saw seabound a few nights ago in camden, and they were fucking great too. they had auto aggression (pretty good) and RBN (not so good…) supporting.

Good luck with that.

An AC/DC live show RAPES a JA & NIN show any day of the forever and ever and ever.

Just caught Peter Murphy a couple of weeks ago, he almost always puts on a great show. He played some interesting covers - NIN’s “Hurt”, John Lennon’s “Instant Karma”, and Roxy Music’s “In Every Dream Home A Heartache”. The Love Hysteria album got some attention, namely “All Night Long” (his best song, IMO), and “Time Has Got Nothing To Do With It”. He played four or five new songs, which had a bit of a Deep/Holy Smoke vibe to them…very upbeat and rocking. As always, he threw in a few Bauhaus songs, including “She’s In Parties” and “The Passion Of Lovers”. The new solo LP is supposed to be out later this year.

Saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs about a month back. They were great! Might go see VNV next week as Ayria is opening and I like her. Can’t be bothered with new VNV though, o I might leave before they go on.

Magazine are playing at the end of the festival here in Edinburgh so definately going to see them.

Going to Berlin on Sunday for 5 days and Neurosis are playing there on the Monday evening so may get along to that.

Hank Williams III playing Glasgow in Sept so will get along to that one too…

Seeing him next week. Always a hell of a show, even if he’s not quite the lyricist his grandad was.

hank always has the best players with him.

saw combichrist a week ago. good times, to be sure. contemplating seeing vnv nation in 2 weeks. not the biggest fan, but i’m just happy something remotely cool is coming here. been a rather dry few months, i tells ya.

The Glasgow show is listed as an Assjack and Hank Williams gig so I imagine this whole tour features Assjack sets.

The way it works is, he plays a country set, then a few of the bandmembers switch out and there’s a short hellbilly set, then a few more switch out and it’s Assjack.
Assjack is a bit much for me, actually, especially since they tend to get onstage pretty late.

Jane’s Adiction and NIN yesterday. Fucking awesome.

Jane’s were in top form despite smallish boring crowd and crap weather. Only played stuff from first 2 albums + ‘Whores’. Perry was in great form, swigging from a bottle of Jameson. Called for girls to take their tops off, they didn’t, he called them pussies, we all had a good laugh.

NIN was one of the best gigs I’ve seen. Was up front, the sky went dark and their lights and mist were class. The setlist (though too brief) was excellent. They played ‘The Becoming’ which was a delight. The setlist was this if I can remember:

Home
1,000,000
Terrible Lie
Discipline
March of the Pigs
Something I Can Never Have
The Becoming
The Big Come Down
Burn
Wish
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole
Hurt

If this is the last time I was to see them I would be content as they were in fine form.

Also saw Mogwai and 2 Many DJ’s on Friday which were also cool, especially the latter.

I thought Perry was all super religous now? drinking and tits doesn’t fit with super religous, at least not out in the open.
Late,

I don’t think Perry’s ever been “religious” as such. Certainly spiritual but not really religious. He’s always been big on having a good time and encouraging nudity. He’s in incredible shape too, he must be well into his 40s but there’s not a sign of aging on him. He was springing around and humping speakers and all that. His voice was a bit low in parts but he’s still a great performer.

VNV Nation about a weeks ago (sound was balls)

let’s see, butthole surfers are about to announce dates, project pitchfork is playing chicago, AIC is coming, KMFDM, NIN if i can get tix.

i look forward to this fall, many good shows on the way.

Yeah lots of good stuff happening in Chicago. More than I have time for. Last show I saw was Queensryche at H.O.B. in Chi. Not a bad show. going to see the Cult and maybe Peter Murphy (thanks to tenotwo for the reminder) Ive seen AC/DC a few times, first time with Bon. Good things do happen in your 50s I guess. I just turned 50 and I gotta tell ya I feel the same as I did when I was 20. Not sure this is a good thing. HA HA HA.

might go watch KMFDM in London on Saturday, since it’s two minutes walk from here.
