Although they lost a battle in the legislature, pro-union protestors have pledged to win the middle class war. Their newest slogans centered around this goal, urging protesters to recall the eight eligible Senate Republicans, and to vote JoAnne Kloppenburg to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Recall the 8 senate republicans but why not the governor? Am I missing something?
Walker helped ram through the bill that ended collective bargaining at midnight, a few days back… If they are not trying to recall him but only his colleagues what good will that do? Are they hoping he’ll resign if they dump the other repubs?
My question is this:
Has the damage been done?
if they manage to fire all 8 repubs and get Kloppenburg to the state Supreme court, can they get that Bill over turned or propose a new bill that would null and void the Walker Bill? or do the people of Wisconsin have to wait the 2 years on order to revisit it?
One more question, MQ…
Are schools in session right now, or is this basically a strike atmosphere where no teachers are going to work?
Also looks like Maine is gearing up for this kind of fight as well… THANK YOU TEA PARTY IDIOTS!

My understanding is that the damage is done for now, although our state assembly is looking into having the senate vote overturned on legal grounds (24 hours notice was not given for the vote). We’re still going for recalls on senators to stop further damage; democrats are hoping to gain a majority in the senate so that Walker can’t just push through whatever he wants. We can’t try recalling Walker (and many of the other senators) until next January; a politician can’t be recalled until a year into their term.
School is in session. Madison and Milwaukee closed down for two days a few weeks ago because there were too many teachers that called in “sick.” They’ll make those days up in the summer, just like we would with a snow day. I haven’t heard any serious talk about a strike. I can’t say for sure what’s going to happen, but I’d be surprised to see a general strike.
I completely forgot that McCarthy was from Wisconsin. Dummy me.There IS something in their water. Walker is reviving. He’s a revivalist. What a jerk. He’s supposed to be representing the constituents. Is there a massive push to get rid of collective bargaining in Wisconsin? didn’t think so. Somebody , if you can, post the 60s Ramblers, made in the US in Kenosha. It drives me absolutely crazy that American companies outsourced starting with the fashion industry in the seventies, and got away with it.
