Mmmm… I’m starting to believe that noone releases they could actually get done for defamation given the comments they’ve made about our ‘favourite’ artists from Ministry… and yes, I’m well aware I’m just as guilty of this as anyone else.

Not having a go at anyone or anything, because the shit we say isn’t exactly anything major…
but let’s just say Al, or anyone else, took offence. He could easily get all these comments, and class them as defamatory and take us to court, if our IP addresses were tracked. I wish I could say I was kidding. Whether or not his case stands up in court (because he is in the public eye and as such has authorised his image to be fair game in the public domain), it could still be taken there. And I hate to say it, but he may have a fair case, as a lot of the comments are pretty personal and step beyond judging him for the music…
honestly, I just wouldn’t be surprised, given his willingness to take Paul to court for ‘intellectual property theft’, or something along those lines, I remember. And given it’s a known fact members from the ministry camp lurk on this board, I wouldn’t be totally surprised.

so a privately run discussion board can’t say that a particular artist sucks? give me a break
i’ve not been online for a while, so if there’s been a case of someone saying that he’s spreading the AIDS virus and raping underage fans or something, well that’s obviously completely different, but just saying he sucks or that the new ministry album is crap is all opinion and unworthy of someone to make case of. and if someone calls him a drunk which has been discussed much I’m not sure how defamatory that is either since he pretty much proudly calls himself the same and proves it fact time and time again

here is a quick lesson in the law… say to a cop you’re an asshole and your ass is going in for threatening a police officer… saying I think that you are an asshole and nothing can legally be done because you did not verbally assault him/her, you stated a personal opinion.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with you Gunner that it’d be bullshit to be picked up for defamation on a thread like this…
but the truth is, you can.
But, I repeat, it’d probably get thrown out of court, much like Al’s case against Paul was. The reality is, a lot of the posts tend to get pretty personal… a bit childish, really. Really, who are any of us to judge, given we’ve only heard 2nd hand accounts? I’d rather be impartial and enjoy the music rather than bother with the personalities behind it.
Then again, soemtimes the personalities behind it can affect the music itself, in a good or bad way. I don’t know. It’s all bollocks really… music is what it is and it should stay there.
Mrs. Jay and others in the Ministry camp know what goes on here (I doubt Al pays much attention to this stuff). If they’d wanted to sue random losers on the internet, or force Afra and Biscuit to shut this place down (like Manson did to his fan forum) they’d have already done it.
Credit to them for that. Hence, this thread topic is null.
i’d like to go on record saying that though i don’t agree with many of al’s recent decisions, i still have respect for what he has done, and can also respect the fact that he’s doing what he wants, no matter what people say.

Sooo what if his newer stuff was kinda shitty. The fact is, he made some of the most creative and badass music in the past (with barker of course) and he’s a legend. He well deserves his shitty days. He might even redeem himself with his solo album or another album of his in the future, I’m willing to give it a listen the day something is released.
