Questions about Australia

So my girlfriend heard a few things from a woman who studied abroad in Australia and said a few things that kind of surprised me. Can the Aussies on this board please confirm true or false to these statements?

  1. They don’t serve Foster’s beer or it at least isn’t very common, and the whole “Foster’s: Australian for Beer” is purely a marketing gimmick towards Americans. Surely Outback Steakhouse is a gimmick, but Foster’s kinda surprised me.

  2. Americans are strongly disliked and if you are visiting from America you are better off saying you are from Canada. This surprised me as well as I thought this would be more true in Europe, as Australia is like America a former British colony who butchered the natives and we have some similar conservative ideas about small government and low tax burdens etc. Perhaps this woman ran in strictly urban liberal circles who were pissed about Bush and his warmongering at the time?

Just curious. What say you?

Fosters is brewed in canada its just an australian recipe. If even that much is true.
Late,

Both are false.

They serve Fosters and they do not hate Americans…although some hate Fosters!

Actually, you rarely ever see Fosters, its quite a novelty when you do. I would put that one down to advertising propaganda. Try Coopers! And no-one is really going to look down on you for being from America. American culture cops a bit of shit, but Americans will get along just as well as anyone else.

Fosters is like making love in a canoe - fucking close to water.

Foster’s is served, but not to Australians.
Americans aren’t hated, though some people and think they’re all hicks.

Girlfriend eh! Abroad eh! That gives me an idea.

Was that one of the things you wanted confirmed? That Australians are able to confirm rumours about Australia? Cos I can confirm that.

We don’t serve Fosters and NOBODY here likes Russell Crowe.

Except for his mum. Possibly.

Well I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve always hated Americans as much as the Swiss love punctuality -however I would make a possible exception for Ross Perot and the actor who played the dad on Family Ties.

Just curious. What say you?

I’d say it sounds like you’re curious.

Noone drinks the shit. I’ve never seen anyone out and about in any nightclub, bar, restaurant, etc, not once drinking Fosters.

If yer ever coming down to Melbourne, bring all sorts of clothes. The weather here is fucking skitzo and has been for the past few weeks.

Eh, Russel Crowe is a decent actor. I’d take him over Tom Cruise any day.

Foster’s on the other hand is awful. Glad to hear they serve better beer over there.

Russell Crowe is from New Zealand and was in Romper Stomper so will always kind of rule.

Coopers Pale Ale is where it’s at.

All so true
